  • Publication number: 20020078337
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and device for configuring an electronic document processing peripheral. The invention concerns more particularly a method of determining a configuration profile for an electronic document processing peripheral, the configuration profile representing a set of configuration parameters for the peripheral, a set of fixed values of the parameters defining a particular configuration of the peripheral. This method is characterized in that it comprises the following steps: a step of obtaining (504) a user identification data item; a step of determining (506) user characteristics as a function of the user identification data item; a step of determining (508), as a function of the user characteristics, a configuration profile applicable for configuring the peripheral.

  • Publication number: 20020032726
Abstract: A method for the transmission of the pages of an electronic document (100) by a client station to a server station connected by a communication network, with a view to the processing of the document by a processing peripheral, includes the steps of sending (S403) to the server station a document processing request; receiving (S405) a page request from the server station, the page request including information identifying a page of the document; translating (S407) orders corresponding to the page identified in the page request into a computer communication language; sending (S409) to the server station a response containing the translated orders corresponding to the identified page.

  • Publication number: 20020001103
Abstract: The method of printing an electronic document comprises a step (E1) of constructing groups of recordings of graphical instructions forming an information block of the document, a step (E6, E30-E33) of dividing these groups into a minimum number of sub-groups adapted to be printed respectively on single sheets after enlargement; and a step (E9, E36) of printing the document after enlargement from the main print file (EM F) and related print files.

  • Patent number: 5893083
Abstract: Apparatus for assisting management of services provided by a computer system includes an inferencing engine (30) for carrying out inferencing operations on a declarative model (24) of a service, using facts about the system stored in a fact base (32). A resident goal store (102) contains declarative definitions of goals which concern availability of services and which it is desirable for the system to continue to satisfy; these definitions are linked to associated facts in the fact base. The service model (24) includes definitions of events which can occur in the system and may affect availability of services, and definitions of actions which can be taken to modify the configuration of the system. When occurrence of an event defined in the service model is reported to the apparatus, the event definition is used to guide analysis of the event report and appropriate updating of the fact base. Goals which are linked to the updated facts are then examined to assess whether the goals are still satisfied.

  • Patent number: 5704735
Abstract: A fly cutter wheel has at least one projecting tooth at a distance from its rotation axis and a chip breaker forward of said tooth in its rotation direction. Applications include the machining of synthetic material ophthalmic lenses.

  • Patent number: 5669807
Abstract: A preform for attaching a holding member to an optical lens comprises a base constrained to rotate with the optical lens to be machined by a low melting point metal coupling layer cast in situ and a superstructure capped by a drive tool. The edge of the base is inwardly offset relative to the superstructure. This enables the coupling layer to form around it a bearing surface that can be gripped by the drive tool. The preform is used to attach holding members to optical lenses, in particular ophthalmic lenses.

  • Patent number: 5336522
Abstract: A fiber preform is initially consolidated by being impregnated with a thermosetting impregnation composition that contains a ceramic precursor, and by heat treatment at the end of which the precursor has been transformed into ceramic, without passing through a meltable phase. The consolidated preform is then densified. The impregnation composition is constituted by a mixture of a thermosetting monomer and a ceramic precursor polymer, and the monomer is cross-linked during the heat treatment so as to achieve "in situ" cross-linking of the polymer mixture prior to transforming the precursor into ceramic.
