  • Patent number: 7161134
Abstract: A procedure for scanning identifying badges for automotive vehicle comprising an identification device designed for the remote interchange of data with the identifying badges. The badge scanning comprises the repeated transmission, by the identification device, of identification requests for the attention of the badges. This procedure comprises the steps of detection (24) of a triggering event out of a predetermined set of triggering events; execution (26) of a preliminary test following the detection of the triggering event; and execution (28, 30) of at least one scan, according to the result of the preliminary test.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 2003
Date of Patent: January 9, 2007
    Assignee: Valeo Electronique
Inventors: David Cure, Marie-Pierre Bena, Marc Ranier, Kathleen Dechamps, Jacques Morillon

  • Patent number: 6952059
Abstract: A system and method for locking a motor vehicle steering column to prevent accidental locking of the steering column is provided. The system electro-mechanically locks the steering column in rotation using a bolt driven by an electronic control circuit that receives commands from an electronic calculator via a multiplexed bus. A blocking device mechanically blocks displacement of the bolt.

  • Patent number: 6621178
Abstract: In this vehicle, equipped with a recognition device (1) capable of remotely exchanging data with an identification member (11) worn or carried by a user to allow access to the vehicle when the identification member has been authenticated by the recognition device, the latter being connected to a pair of lateral antennas (2, 3) each having, when powered at nominal power, a zone of coverage encompassing the interior of the vehicle and extending laterally on both sides thereof to allow a dialog between the recognition device and the identification member when the latter is located in the zone of coverage of at least one of the antennas, the recognition device (1) is capable, in response to action by the user on an external member placed on one side of the vehicle, of causing the antenna located on the same side as the external member to be powered at nominal power and of causing the antenna located on the opposite side of the vehicle to be powered at a reduced power so that the latter antenna has a reduced zone

  • Patent number: 6600410
Abstract: A security arrangement for motor vehicle equipped with a programmed monitoring system (1) and with at least one specific system (2) to which the monitoring system transmits commands. The arrangement comprises hard-wired logic (4) mounted between a control facility (3) and the specific system, as is the monitoring system. This logic makes it possible to block a command (OV) transmitted by the monitoring system to the specific system, when this command corresponds to that which is obtained in respect of an instruction (C) received by the control facility and when such an instruction has not been received from the control facility by the hard-wired logic. The arrangement is intended to be fitted to a vehicle comprising a programmed monitoring system, such as a “hands-free” monitoring system, and one or more specific systems, for example an electrical anti-theft system or electrical supply monitoring system.

  • Patent number: 6522027
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an authentication device for automobile vehicles that controls door locking and/or engine starting and is able to interchange data over a certain distance with an identifier, intended to be carried by a user, when said identifier lies within the emission/reception coverage zone of said authentication device, to enable “hands-free” vehicle access and/or engine starting when said identifier has been authenticated by said authentication device, wherein said authentication device is connected to a single antenna inside the vehicle passenger compartment and is able to emit via said antenna at least two distinct emission powers, a first emission power enabling said antenna to cover a first zone including at least part of said passenger compartment, and a second emission power greater than said first emission power enabling said antenna to cover a second zone including at least the whole of said passenger compartment and possibly a coverage zone outside said vehicle.
