Patent number: 8414767Abstract: A fluid purifying module including a monolithic container, a pretreatment filter, and a selectively permeable membrane treatment cartridge, respectively housed in an external cylindrical space and an internal cylindrical space of the container, communicating with each other via one or more passages in the vicinity of one axial end of the container. The external space communicates at the same end as the opposite axial end with a first connector orifice for feeding fluid to be purified to the pretreatment filter, and the internal space communicates separately, at the same end as the aforementioned axial end, with a second connector orifice for evacuating from the module a flow of permeate (purified fluid) and with a third connector orifice for evacuating from the module a flow of retentate (residual fluid).Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2003Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: EMD Millipore CorporationInventors: Yves Gaignet, Denis Daulasim, Jacques Moulin

Patent number: 6596145Abstract: An electrodeionization (EDI) module is formed from an anode spaced apart from a cathode, one or more waste channels formed between the electrodes and a product channel located inward of the waste channel(s). Ion permeable membranes form the boundary between the product channel and the waste channel(s). The product channel and waste channels are filled with a mixture of anionic and cationic ion exchange materials. At least the waste channel(s) and preferably the product channel as well, use either an anion bead having a relatively low affinity for the selected anion specie(s) to be retained (e.g. Type II) or it is a blend with Type I materials. Preferably, the membranes contain an ion exchange material to speed the transfer of ions across them. More preferably, the anionic membrane contains anion materials that have a relatively low affinity for the selected specie or species for retention.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2001Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Millipore CorporationInventors: Jacques Moulin, Ramesh Hegde, Ven Anantha Raman

Patent number: 6322519Abstract: A device for measuring exhaled flow comprises a measuring tube partially obstructed by a narrow part of the tube; and a differential pressure sensor coupled to the tube for measuring the pressures inside the tube on either side of the narrow part. The measuring tube is removable and comprises, at its outer surface, flexible annular seals protruding from the outer surface and located on either side of openings which are in turn located on either side of the narrow part. The measuring tube is insertable in a recess of the device, the recess having a diameter slightly greater than the external diameter of the measuring tube such that, in an abutment position of the measuring tube in the recess, the annular seals define with the recess and the external wall of the tube annular chambers communicating respectively with two passages of the recess, connected to the pressure sensor.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1996Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignee: Societe de Therformage et D'Injection des Plastiques-S.T.L.Inventor: Jacques Moulin

Patent number: 4822369Abstract: An improved bone joint prosthesis, particularly a whole hip or shoulder prosthesis, provides long life and prevents dislocation. The cotyle has a resilient, shock absorptive layer sandwiched between inner and outer hemispheric elements. The inner element is coated with a low friction coating which cooperates with the head to provide smooth operation and extended life. Materials which may be used include a high density reticulated polyethylene on the cotyle surface in combination with an alumina head. Particularly good results are obtained using a gold cotyle surface in combination with a highly polished chromium oxide head. A retainer which may be readily fastened to the cotyle during implantation is provided to prevent dislocation of the femoral head from the cotyle. In a preferred embodiment, the lip of the retainer is resilient and permits limited displacement of the head while preventing complete dislocation.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1986Date of Patent: April 18, 1989Inventors: Gerard Oueveau, Jacques Moulin
