  • Patent number: 4559025
Abstract: A bellows seal for a universal joint has its sleeve surrounding the drive shaft separated from this shaft over only a cylindrical segment by a device communicating between the interior of the sleeve and the external atmosphere. This device has a portion of small circumferential width lying below the sleeve and a portion of large circumferential width integral with the first portion. An axial groove in the first portion communicating with a meandering groove forming a baffle in the second portion before this meandering groove opens into the ambient atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4507100
Abstract: A universal joint comprising an inner element, integral with a first shaft having at least two journals which support rollers adapted to cooperate with roller tracks provided in an outer element made integral with a second shaft, this outer element comprising a rigid casing provided with housings in which are situated the roller tracks, resilient member being provided in connection with these roller tracks. The whole is arranged so that the resilient member tend to apply the walls of the roller tracks against the rollers, each roller being gripped between the two walls defining a roller track, said walls being maintained constantly under pressure against the rollers with the resilient member.

  • Patent number: 4371356
Abstract: A sliding universal joint for automobiles having a driving element in the form of socket, connected to a driving shaft and having at least two roller tracks cooperating with rollers mounted by their bores on trunnion pins of a hub connected to a driven shaft. Retainers (11, 21) for retaining the rollers (5) on their trunnion pins (6) are provided with toothed friction surfaces (16, 24) to hold the rollers during manipulation, and against the centrifugal force which occurs during functioning of the joint.

  • Patent number: 4210002
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmission joint with bellows-type elastomer dust-guard comprising an inner element rigid with a first shaft and drivingly engaged for rotation with an outer element rigid with a second shaft, the bellows dust-guard comprising end collars adapted to be fastened by clamping the one to the outer element and the other to the first joint shaft. According to the invention, the inner space of the joint and dust-guard assembly is adapted to be connected to the surrounding atmosphere by means of a split resilient ring interposed between the first shaft and the corresponding end collar, and so shaped as to permit the passage of air along this shaft in the clamped collar condition.
