  • Patent number: 6890486
Abstract: The present invention relates to quartz crystal microbalance sensors using molecular imprinting polymerization technology, providing for continuous on-line monitoring of water-borne organic contaminants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 26, 2001
Date of Patent: May 10, 2005
    Assignee: University of Massachusetts
    Inventor: Jacques Penelle
  • Publication number: 20040234954
Abstract: A thin film made of a stiff polymer and having indentations on its surface, and methods of making and using the thin film are disclosed. The surface includes a plurality of indentations, the shape of each indentation corresponding to an outer surface of an imprint moiety, such as an animal, bacterial, or plant cell. The thin film can be mounted on a detector, which can be used to selectively bind to and detect the imprint moiety in a sample, e.g., a biological or environmental sample, at a minimum concentration of as low as 500 to 1000 imprint moieties per milliliter of sample.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 3, 2004
    Publication date: November 25, 2004
Inventors: Klaus Nusslein, Jacques Penelle, Kanad Das
  • Publication number: 20040166581
Abstract: A molecular sensor for detecting small concentrations of a target molecular even in the presence of other molecules having similar shape and chemistry. Two QCM sensors are provided, both of which are covered with polymeric coatings having essentially the same chemistry. One of the QCM sensors is molecularly imprinted while the other is not. The output of the two QCM signals is compared to indicate the presence of the target molecule.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 8, 2003
    Publication date: August 26, 2004
