Patent number: 8660771Abstract: A method for detecting the opening of a thrust reverser for a jet engine of an aircraft is disclosed. According to the method, an operating parameter of the turbojet (1) is determined being responsive to the opening of a mobile element (2a, 2b) of the thrust reverser and reacting to such an opening by a sudden variation of the value thereof, the parameter is measured continuously and the mobile element (2a, 2b) is considered as being opened when the sudden variation is detected.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2010Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Assignee: Airbus Operations SASInventors: Patrick Jegu, Jacques Rosay, Emanuele Costanzo

Patent number: 8467917Abstract: A method for automatically managing a lateral trajectory upon triggering an emergency descent includes determining a value of lateral offset and generating an offset setpoint by using the value of lateral offset. The generating an offset setpoint includes calculating a sum of the value of lateral offset and any initial value of lateral offset defined between a central axis of a protected sector that the aircraft travels along and an initial lateral trajectory. The offset setpoint is selected to be the smaller of the sum or a lateral offset maximum, which maintains the aircraft within the protected sector at all times. The aircraft is then operated to move the aircraft to the offset setpoint during the emergency descent, which helps avoid further air traffic that may be located at different altitude levels within the same protected sector, especially along the central axis.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2011Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignees: Airbus (S.A.S.), Airbus Operations (S.A.S.)Inventors: Paule Botargues, Erwin Grandperret, Lucas Burel, Jacques Rosay, Didier Ronceray

Patent number: 7896293Abstract: The process improves the maneuverability of an aircraft during the approach to landing and then flare-out phases, the aircraft being equipped with air brakes. According to the process, the air brakes are put in a first deployed position during the approach phase, and as a function of a representative parameter of a given altitude and in case of a steep angle approach, they are actuated to transition to a second more retracted position than the first position so as to achieve a flare-out allowing to essentially maintain the same angle of incidence, corresponding in case of a steep angle approach to achieve a flare-out with habitual exterior piloting references during the flare-out phase.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2008Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Assignee: AirbusInventors: Stéphane Boissenin, Jacques Rosay

Publication number: 20060109167Abstract: A method and device for determining a vertical position cue of an aircraft while landing in the presence of a lateral alignment beam, which is emitted from the ground and provides an indication of the aircraft's lateral alignment with respect to a landing strip, may include detecting the lateral alignment beam with aircraft equipment. On the basis of cues relating to the detected lateral alignment beam and of predetermined cues, an axis of approach of the aircraft is determined. Additionally, the actual position and a preset position of the aircraft, which corresponds to the position the aircraft would have if it were on the approach axis, are determined. On the basis of the actual and preset positions of the aircraft, the vertical deviation of the aircraft, representing the vertical position cue, is computed.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2004Publication date: May 25, 2006Applicant: AIRBUS FranceInventors: Patrice Rouquette, Eric Peyrucain, Jacques Rosay

Patent number: 6982655Abstract: Method and indicator for displaying information showing the airspeed tolerance margins for an aircraft. The indicator comprises a central processing unit which selects, from a plurality of longitudinal scales, the longitudinal scale representative of the current aerodynamic configuration of the aircraft and a display means which presents on a display screen the selected longitudinal scale, which is mobile in the longitudinal direction, and whose position on the display screen depends on the current angle of attack of the aircraft, shown by a characteristic marker in a fixed position on the display screen across the longitudinal scale, the latter scrolling up and down relative to the characteristic marker as a function of the current angle of attack of the aircraft.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2004Date of Patent: January 3, 2006Assignee: Airbus FranceInventors: Pascal Vialleton, Martin Delporte, Jean-Christophe Reinmuth, Jacques Rosay
