    Abstract: A microemulsion is prepared containing: a mixture of (1) nitrogenous compounds, (2) from 10-5% by weight of an alkyl or alkenyl phosphoric ester surfactant, the alkyl and alkenyl groups of which contain less than 12 carbon atoms per group and the ester surfactant containing from 1 to 10 alkoxy radicals, (3) from 3 to 20% by weight of at least one cosurfactant, (4) a vegetable oil, an animal oil or a fatty acid and (5) a plasticizer. The microemulsion having a viscosity at 5° C. less than or equal to 200 mPa·sec and is stable at a temperature of −10° C. to +50° C. Further, the microemulsion is useful as a biodegradation accelerator.

This process makes it possible to obtain either a microemulsion of acid-in-oil type in equilibrium with an acid phase, or a microemulsion of oil-in-acid type in equilibrium with an organic phase, or a microemulsion in simultaneous equilibrium with the organic and acid phases.The process is applicable to numerous domains: controlled acidification, stimulatiion of oil-producing well formations, fracturing, liquid-liquid extraction of metal cations in hydrometallurgy, chemical reactions (sulfonation, sulfatation, protonic catalysis).

As the source of nitrogen, compounds soluble in water are used, such as urea or ammonium nitrate, sulphate or phosphate, and, as the source of phosphorus, compounds soluble in water are used. The medium sould also contain a directly-assimilable source of carbon. Application of this composition for culturing of microorganisms allows operations to be carried out which comprise the degrading of hydrocabons covering an area of water or ground; an application of particular interest for operation is for combatting oil pollution of the sea by biological degradation. As the source of nitrogen, compounds soluble in water are used, such as urea or ammonium nitrate, sulphate or phosphate, and, as the source of phosphorus, compounds soluble in water are used.
