  • Publication number: 20230079814
Abstract: An imaging system includes a tether, a tapered end portion coupling the tether to an imaging capsule, the imaging capsule comprising a camera lens, and at least one fluid wicking element, positioned on the imaging system proximate to the camera lens of the imaging capsule to enable the fluid wicking element to wick liquid away from the camera lens. In some embodiments, the fluid wicking element of the imaging system further functions as an alignment element for the imaging system to enable a positioning of the imaging system in an opening.

  • Publication number: 20200390320
Abstract: An endoscope with flexible cable is described having a first set of means to facilitate travel of an imaging capsule down the esophagus, a second set of means to enable proper orientation and optical clarity of the capsule, and a third set of means to enable ease in retrieval of the device. In most embodiments, there is an overlap of these sets of means, the combination of which assures optimal exam effectiveness while maintaining a high degree of patient comfort. The endoscope can target low cost, high volume screening for diseases of the upper digestive tract.

  • Patent number: 10182791
Abstract: A multimodality imaging system including ultrasound, optical coherence tomography (OCT), photoacoustic (PA) imaging, florescence imaging and endoscopic catheter for imaging inside the gastrointestinal tract with real-time automatic image co-registration capability, including: an ultrasound subsystem for imaging; an optical coherence tomography (OCT) subsystem for imaging, a PA microscopy or tomography subsystem for imaging and a florescence imaging subsystem for imaging. An invasive interventional imaging device is included with an instrumentality to take a tissue biopsy from a location visible on the ultrasound subsystem for imaging, on the optical coherence tomography (OCT) subsystem for imaging, photoacoustic (PA) subsystem for imaging and florescence subsystem for imaging. The instrumentality takes a tissue biopsy from a visible location simultaneously with the visualization of the tissue about to be biopsied so that the tissue biopsy location is visualized before, during and after the biopsy.

  • Patent number: 9901347
Abstract: The application discloses devices, delivery tools, systems, and methods for treating biliary disease. Device comprise, for example, a component configured for deployment between a gallbladder and location within a gastrointestinal tract of a patient which has a proximal end and a distal end with a lumen extending therethrough. A method of deploying the device can be achieved by, for example, creating a duct or fistula between a gallbladder lumen and a portion of a gastrointestinal tract; and providing for drainage from the gallbladder to the gastrointestinal tract.

  • Publication number: 20170028176
Abstract: A device for implantation in a body may include a body defining a lumen. The body may have a first end and a second end, and the lumen may define a central axis. The body may include a first flexible flange having a first base portion and a first angled portion. The first base portion may be about perpendicular to the central axis and extend radially away from the first end. The body may further include a second flexible flange having a second base portion and a second angled portion. The second base portion may be about perpendicular to the central axis and extend radially away from the second end. The first and second angle portions may be generally angled toward each other. A loading device may be configured to load the device into a delivery device. The delivery device may be configured to delivery and deploy the device.

  • Publication number: 20130246085
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a health data system receives one or more personal health records from an application. The health data system analyzes the data contained within the one or more personal health records, and receives electronic health records other health data, such as genetic data, where the electronic health records and other health data are stored on remote data sources. The health data system then selects the appropriate electronic health records and other appropriate health data based on the data contained within the one or more personal health records. The health data system can then correlate the data from the one or more personal health records with the data contained within the appropriate electronic health records and the other health data. The health data system then encapsulates the correlated data as diagnostic data, and provides the diagnostic data to one or more diagnostic clients.

  • Publication number: 20090118641
Abstract: Provided herein are biopsy devices each comprised of a tissue collection element having a distal end and a proximal end connected to a drive mechanism. In one embodiment, the tissue collection element can be formed from a material having a first constrained configuration when positioned within the outer needle prior to deployment and a second unconstrained configuration when extended distally beyond the distal end of the outer needle. In another embodiment, the tissue collection element can be formed from a material having a first constrained configuration when a stylet is inserted into the tissue collection element and a second unconstrained configuration when the stylet is retracted from within the tissue collection element. In a third embodiment, the tissue collection element comprises a helical cutting edge along at least a portion of the length of the tissue collection element, wherein the helical cutting edge is adaptable to cut a portion of tissue from the target location.
