    Abstract: The invention concerns a housing for receiving a mining pick bit in which the free spaces for taking up spoil between the housing and the shaft of the bit are provided into the housing. In this way a fully round shaft can be used, which rotates more easier than a pick bit the shaft of which has a triangular cross-sectional form. Protrusions between the free spaces are made of carbide so that there is a very good wear resistance.
