  • Publication number: 20090318298
Abstract: The invention is directed to methods for using sequence by ligation to sequence DNA immobilized on miniaturized, high density bead-based arrays. Methods are provided to fabricate an array of beads where the beads are coupled directly to a solid support. Methods are also provided to improve signal and reduce background in ligation-mediated DNA sequencing. In addition, methods are provided to improve the accuracy of reported tag counts when performing DNA sequencing by fluorescent nonamer ligation.

  • Patent number: 5602064
Abstract: A method of producing a microwave dielectric applicable to microwave applied appliances. According to the method, the temperature coefficient of the resonance frequency of the dielectric is controlled by adjusting the amount of an amorphous portion of the dielectric with quenching of the dielectric material in a temperature range where its liquid phase exists.

  • Patent number: 5574583
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device including a compensation layer or dummy pattern provided at a region where transparent electrode films formed on upper and lower glass plates are not overlapped with each other, the compensation layer or dummy pattern having a thickness substantially corresponding to the thickness of one transparent electrode film and serving to provide a uniform cell gap, thereby capable of achieving an improvement in display quality. The compensation layer is made of an Si0.sub.2 based material and formed on a region where the transparent electrode films are not overlapped with each other by use of an offset roll coating process, before or after a formation of a top coating film disposed on the transparent electrode films, the compensation layer having the same thickness as the transparent electrode films.

  • Patent number: 5297494
Abstract: A combustible waste incinerator with a tubular furnace defining a cavity with a first opening for receiving said waste and a second opening and an interior and an exterior surface is disclosed. A burner unit is positioned at the second opening of the cavity for producing an intense flame in the cavity sufficient to burn the combustible waste therein. A water pipe and an air pipe are spirally coiled along the interior surface of the cavity for dissipating heat formed and supplying air to the cavity to promote combustion. The water pipe and the air supply pipe are disposed on the interior surface of the cavity such that a spiral channel is formed from the first opening to the second opening of the cavity. A cylindrical wire screen is disposed between the water and air supply pipes and the cavity to permit at least a portion of the waste to pass from the cavity into the spiral channel.
