  • Publication number: 20090091239
Abstract: A light-emitting chip includes a light-emitting part, a first color-converting part and a second color-converting part. The light-emitting part includes a first electrode and a second electrode, and generates first light of a first wavelength. The first color-converting part is formed on a light-emitting surface of the light-emitting part. The first color-converting part converts at least a portion of the first light into second light of a second wavelength. The second color-converting part is formed on the first color-converting part. The second color-converting part converts at least a portion of the first light into third light of a third wavelength that is shorter than the second wavelength. Thus, a fluorescent substance of a long wavelength and a fluorescent substance of a short wavelength are sequentially formed on a light-emitting surface of a light-emitting part, so that the color reproducibility of a light-emitting chip may be enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20090066635
Abstract: Disclosed is an electrophoretic display and a method for driving the electrophoretic display. The method for driving the electrophoretic display, which includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and an electrophoretic layer including electrophoretic particles disposed in a plurality of pixels receiving the voltage for driving from the first electrode and the second electrode and provided between the first electrode and the second electrode includes applying a reset voltage to the pixels, applying a reset compensation voltage including reversed polarity to the reset voltage to the pixels, applying an image display voltage including the same or different polarity during a predetermined time between the neighboring pixels, and applying an image display compensation voltage including reversed polarity to the image display voltage to the pixels during a predetermined time.

  • Publication number: 20080272987
Abstract: A display apparatus having pixel areas defined on a substrate. First color pixels having a white color and second color pixels having a color different from that of the first color pixels are aligned in each pixel area in the form of a matrix. The second color pixels are adjacent to the first color pixels in the row and column directions.

  • Publication number: 20080246779
Abstract: The driving apparatus of a display device calculates a slope using a minimum gray, a maximum gray, a gray average of frame data in a current frame, and a gray average of frame data in a previous frame, and corrects and outputs the input frame data according to the slope, using frame data of one frame. As a result, a gray range of the input image signal can be extended, thereby improving visibility. Further, in a case of a motion picture, even when a difference of a gray range of images of adjacent frames is large, an original image is not distorted due to extension of a gray range. Also, even when noise is included in the input image signal, a gray range can be extended after removing the noise.

  • Publication number: 20080117496
Abstract: A color filter substrate includes a base substrate, a white light-blocking part, and a color filter layer. The white light-blocking part is formed on the base substrate. The white light-blocking part divides the base substrate into a light-transmitting area and a light-blocking area. The color filter layer is formed in the light-transmitting area. Therefore, the white light-blocking part is formed so that a boundary of the pixel part is divided and a light-blocking function is realized. Furthermore, a white luminance characteristic is enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20080062119
Abstract: An electrophoretic display and a method for more easily manufacturing the same which includes forming a thermal conversion film on a transfer substrate, forming a transfer film having an electrophoretic member dispersed therein on the thermal conversion film, preparing a first panel where a first electrode is formed and aligning the first panel and a transfer substrate, transferring a predetermined portion of the transfer film to the first electrode by a laser induced thermal imaging (LITI) method, and preparing a second panel where a second electrode is formed to align and tightly contact the second panel and the transfer film so that the second electrode and the transferred transfer film can correspond to each other.
