Abstract: A refrigerator includes a storage compartment having a door at its front end which is hinged to swing about a horizontal pivot axis disposed along a lower edge of the door. The hinge is mounted on a slidable member for forward and rearward sliding movement. The door is connected to the refrigerator body by a pivoted arm arrangement which is connected to the slidable member to cause the hinge to be slid forwardly when the door is opened, and to be slid rearwardly when the door is closed. The slidable member can be connected to a slidable food-supporting tray to cause the tray to slide along with the slidable member.

Abstract: A refrigerator includes a refrigerating compartment and a storage compartment disposed therebeneath. A first cool air path conducts cool air from a main cool air duct to the storage compartment and then to the refrigerating compartment. A second cool air path conducts cool air directly from the main duct to the refrigerating compartment. The cool air entering the refrigerating compartment from the second path is cooler than, and travels faster than, the cool air entering the refrigerating compartment from the first path to create a pressure differential which induces the air flow through the first path.

Abstract: The cooling air supply device of a refrigerating compartment comprises primary and secondary air supply devices positioned in the rear wall and the ceiling of the freezing compartment, respectively. The primary supply device has vertical flow dividers and horizontal flow dividers for venting the cooling air into the freezing compartment and a by-pass portion for feeding part of the air into the secondary supply device. The secondary supply device has channels along each side wall, and vents for venting some air downwardly and sidewardly and some air downwardly and forwardly.

Abstract: A control apparatus for maximizing an inner space of a freezing chamber of a refrigerator and for providing ready access to a temperature control portion even when the inner space is filled with foodstuffs. The apparatus includes an upper cover recessed into an upper wall of the freezer chamber to contain the temperature control portion and a lamp, a case having a temperature adjustment lever an illumination cover protecting lamp, in which the temperature adjustment lever is engaged with a follower gear of the temperature control portion to control the temperature of the freezing chamber.
