Abstract: A display device includes an array substrate, a driving film and an adhesive member. The array substrate includes a first base substrate, a plurality of first signal pads formed on the first base substrate and a first dummy pad formed adjacent to the first signal pads. The driving film includes a base film, a plurality of output terminals formed on the base film and a first alignment mark formed adjacent to the output terminals. The adhesive member adheres the first signal pads to the output terminals, and adheres the first dummy pad to the first alignment mark.

Abstract: An audio player includes an audio headset having two earpieces. A playback circuit provides one of a stereophonic program and a monaural program to the audio headset. The monaural program may be created by mixing channels of the stereophonic program. A mode control is coupled to the playback circuit and to the audio headset. The mode control detects when at least one of the two earpieces is not adjacent a listener's ear and causes the playback circuit to deliver the monaural program to the audio headset.

Abstract: A refueling apparatus for charging nuclear fuel in a reactor vessel, the refueling apparatus including: a refueling unit loading new nuclear fuel to a core or extracting spent nuclear fuel from the core; and a waveguide sensor unit including an ultrasonic wedge to form a Lamb wave, a waveguide with an end connected to the ultrasonic wedge and with another end transmitting the Lamb wave into the reactor vessel, and an ultrasonic sensor connected to the ultrasonic wedge and sensing a reflection signal reflected from an inside of the reactor vessel, the waveguide being formed in a plate shape and mounted in an end of the refueling unit. The waveguide integrally moves with the refueling unit, and the waveguide sensor unit detects a condition of the inside of the reactor vessel, while the refueling unit refuels the fuel assembly in the reactor vessel.

Abstract: A handheld communication device is used to capture video streams and generate a multiplexed video stream. The handheld communication device has at least two cameras facing in two opposite directions. The handheld communication device receives a first video stream and a second video stream simultaneously from the two cameras. The handheld communication device detects a speech activity of a person captured in the video streams. The speech activity may be detected from direction of sound or lip movement of the person. Based on the detection, the handheld communication device automatically switches between the first video stream and the second video stream to generate a multiplexed video stream. The multiplexed video stream interleaves segments of the first video stream and segments of the second video stream. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: A portable terminal is provided. The portable terminal includes a display panel, a case member provided to surround at least both sides of the display panel, and a speaker hole formed in the case member and opened to at least one side of the display panel. The portable terminal includes the speaker hole in at least a side of the display panel by changing only a structure of the case member, such that the volume and quality of sound output from the speaker device can be fully delivered to a user who uses the terminal while viewing the display panel.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display having data driving apparatus comprising first and second output switches, a charge sharing line, and first and second charge sharing switches. The first output switch switches an electrical connection between a first amplifier providing a positive gradation voltage and a first data line in response to a control signal. The second output switch switches an electrical connection between a second amplifier providing a negative gradation voltage and a second data line in response to the control signal. The first charge sharing switch switches an electrical connection between the first data line and the charge sharing line in response to the control signal. The second charge sharing switch switches an electrical connection between the second data line and the charge sharing line in response to the control signal.

Abstract: A system detects the repositioning of an earphone that is worn by a user, and changes an operation mode of a host coupled to the earphone. Within the earphone is a pressure transducer that detects a pressure change caused by the repositioning of the earphone. A signaling mechanism sends a repositioning detection signal to the host in response to a signal from the pressure transducer indicating the detection of the pressure change.

Abstract: A flexible circuit board according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a flexible base film including a liquid crystal panel bonding part at a side, which is bonded with a liquid crystal panel, a driving integrated circuit at a center of the flexible base film, a plurality of first conductive patterns on the flexible base film and extending from the driving integrated circuit to the liquid crystal panel bonding part, a solder resin layer exposing a first portion of the first conductive patterns, which is disposed on the liquid crystal panel bonding part, and covering a second portion of the first conductive patterns, which is a portion of the first conductive patterns other than the first portion, and a solder resin layer extending part protruding from an edge of the solder resin layer in a direction parallel to a direction in which the first conductive patterns extend.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for preventing infection by malicious code, comprising: a database in which files installed in an agent system, DNA values for each part of the files, and index information for indicating whether each file is normal or malicious are stored; a calculation unit which calculates a DNA value for a part of a file for which an execution is requested in the agent system; and a file inspection unit which searches the database to extract, in a group, files having the DNA value calculated by the calculation unit, inspects whether an object file is normal or malicious on the basis of the index information on the files extracted in a group, and allows the execution of the object file or makes a request for the calculation of DNA values of other parts which selectively include one part of the object file.

Abstract: A signal generating circuit for a liquid crystal display (LCD) includes circuitry adapted to receive a gate clock signal and an output enable signal. The gate clock signal is a combination of a gate-on signal and a gate-off signal and the output enable signal is operable to adjust the width of the gate-on signal. The signal generating circuit adjusts the output enable signal such that a falling edge of the output enable signal overlaps a rising edge of the gate clock signal and thereby delays the gate clock signal for a selected amount of time.

Abstract: A gate driver includes a gate integrated circuit (“IC”) chip which receives at least two scanning start signals and at least four clock control signals, and outputs a plurality of gate-on voltages, where at least two clock control signals of the at least four clock control signals are generated based on one scanning start signal of the at least two scanning start signals, timings of the at least two scanning start signals are independent of each other, and timings of the at least two clock control signals based on the one scanning start signal are independent of each other.

Abstract: Disclosed are a display and a method of driving the display. The display includes a display panel on which a plurality of data lines are formed, a data driver for supplying data voltages generated by modulating input image data to the respective data lines. The data driver includes a precharging unit for selecting a specific precharge voltage from a plurality of precharge voltages applied to the data driver depending on grayscale sections of the input image data, and for precharging the selected precharge voltages to the respective data lines. A predetermined voltage is precharged according to a grayscale section of image data and then applied to a pixel, whereby voltage rising time and voltage falling time when charging the pixel can be shortened. Therefore, even though the charge time of the pixel is shortened and bias current of the data driver is thus reduced, it is possible to obtain high driving performance.

Abstract: A power savings mode for data updates is provided. The power savings mode prevents data updates to occur while a screen of a portable electronic device is turned off and the device is in a sleep state. The power savings mode waits until the screen is turned on and the portable electronic device is in a wake state before allowing applications and widgets to update data from network repositories. By preventing applications and widgets from updating data while the portable electronic device is in a sleep state, the power savings mode conserves battery life and network bandwidth by limiting possibly unnecessary data transmissions.

Abstract: A connector for receiving a cylindrical plug includes a body defining a plug aperture and a cavity for receiving the cylindrical plug. A plurality of electrical contacts in communication with the cavity make electrical connections with the cylindrical plug and retain the cylindrical plug. A microphone is coupled to the body such that the plug aperture and the cavity provide an acoustic path to the microphone. The microphone may be at an end of the connector opposite the plug aperture or on a side of the connector adjacent the plug aperture. The connector allows a microphone to be added to a device, such as a mobile telephone, without the need for an additional external aperture. The microphone in the connector may operate with a second microphone and processing electronics in the device to provide audio processing functions such as noise cancellation or audio beamforming.

Abstract: An originating communications device is configured to transmit a text message to a recipient mobile device when the originating device determines that the recipient device has failed to connect with a call that was initiated by the originating device. The text message is designed to indicate that the recipient device has failed to connect with the call; in addition or as an alternative, the text message includes a code that indicates to the recipient device that it is potentially in a poor RF coverage area. The recipient mobile device, upon receiving and displaying the text message, may determine that it is indeed in an area with poor coverage and will in response store its current geographic location as a poor coverage area. Abstract: Provided is a photomask used in fabrication of a semiconductor device. The photomask includes first and second regions to be transferred onto a semiconductor substrate having a step difference. The first and second regions have mask patterns. The mask patterns of the first region have a different shape from the mask patterns of the second region. The mask patterns of the second region have concave and convex portions disposed in opposite lateral portions thereof.

Abstract: A device includes a microphone array fixed to the device. A signal processor produces an audio output using audio beamforming with input from the microphone array. The signal processor aims the beamforming in a selected direction. An orientation sensor—such as a compass, an accelerometer, or an inertial sensor—is coupled to the signal processor. The orientation sensor detects a change in the orientation of the microphone array and provides an orientation signal to the signal processor for adjusting the aim of the beamforming to maintain the selected direction. The device may include a camera that captures an image. An image processor may identify an audio source in the image and provide a signal adjusting the selected direction to follow the audio source. The image processor may receive the orientation signal and adjust the image for changes in the orientation of the camera before tracking movement of the audio source.

Abstract: A removable case for a mobile communications device includes an opening that aligns with a microphone port that is built into the device. The case includes a windscreen that is sealed across the opening of the case. The windscreen is designed to reduce wind noise, air blasts, vocal plosives, and other noise.
