  • Publication number: 20020003515
Abstract: A plasma display panel and a method and apparatus for driving the same that are capable of preventing miss-writing and improving discharge and light-emission efficiencies. In the panel, an upper substrate and a lower substrate are opposed to each other with having a plurality of discharge cells therebetween. A first upper electrode group includes at least one electrode having a desired width and is formed on the upper substrate. A second upper electrode group includes at least one electrode having a different width from the first upper electrode group and is formed on the upper substrate in such a manner to be adjacent to the first upper electrode group. A data electrode is provided on the lower substrate in such a manner to be perpendicular the first and second upper electrode group. In the method and apparatus, a short-path discharge occurs between two electrodes spaced at a small distance from each other, of electrodes included in the first and second upper electrode groups.

  • Patent number: 6111868
Abstract: A parallel acquisition system configured using a reference matched filter, thereby obtaining a superior acquisition performance and a high throughput as compared to conventional serial acquisition systems and conventional parallel acquisition systems including no reference matched filter. The parallel acquisition system includes a reference matched filter connected in parallel to a plurality of detection matched filters connected together in parallel. The reference matched filter serves to estimate a dispersion of interference components of reception signals respectively input at the detection matched filters. The parallel acquisition system can be applied to the receiver of a spread spectrum system for a packet radio data communication in a multiple access environment.

  • Patent number: 6102013
Abstract: A supercharger for an internal combustion, diesel engine includes a clutch disc for engaging or disengaging the flywheel of the engine for transmitting power to the transmission and wheels of a vehicle in which the engine is mounted. A blower assembly for the supercharger is fixedly connected to the clutch disc for rotation in unison therewith. The blower includes a cover secured to the clutch disc and a plurality of impeller vanes disposed about its periphery. In operation, when the clutch disc is engaged with the flywheel of the engine, the blower of the supercharger rotates in unison with the clutch plate to draw in air and supply compressed air to the engine to perform the supercharging functions. However, during idling, when the clutch is disengaged, the supercharger blower does not rotate thereby minimizing fuel consumption.

  • Patent number: 5812073
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for generating an (4,20) RLL modulation code having a decreased detectible window width and an increased recording density ratio. The code's spectrum is concentrated in the low-frequency band, thereby improving the signal-to-noise ratio. In addition, the hardware of an encoder and a decoder can be easily implemented since the modulation code has a fixed codeword length.

  • Patent number: 5189657
Abstract: A circuit capable of simply writing a specified modulation signal, for example, eight to fourteen modulated signals onto a writable optical disk, by utilizing rising and falling edges of the signal. The circuit includes a first pulse generator for generating a first write pulse upon each rising edge of the first format of modulation signal; a second pulse generator for generating a second write pulse upon each falling edge of the first format of modulation signal; a gating circuit for providing either one of the first and second pulses, in sequence of occurrence, to a laser power controller, so as to enable to write the first format of modulation signal onto the disk; a signal reproducing circuit for reproducing the first format of modulation signal retrieved from the disk into the original modulation signal; and a switching circuit for selecting either one of the second type of reproduced modulation signal and output of the signal reproducing circuit for a demodulating circuit.
