    Abstract: A photographing apparatus may include an image pickup device which captures an image and converts the captured image into an electric image signal. A luminance detector may calculate a plurality of luminance evaluation values corresponding to a plurality of metering modes using light measurement areas of the image of the electric image signal. The light measurement areas corresponding to each of the plurality of metering modes may be different from each other. An exposure value calculator may calculate an automatic exposure value based on the luminance evaluation value corresponding to each of the plurality of metering modes. The apparatus may also include a photographing controller which performs photographing in a plurality of times corresponding to the metering modes by operating the image pickup device using the automatic exposure values to capture a plurality of photographed images. A display unit may display the plurality of photographed images.

    Abstract: A digital photographing apparatus may include an imaging device which captures an image of a subject using an illumination apparatus that operates using alternating current (AC) power, and a shutter speed derivation unit which derives at least one shutter speed that is n/2 times a reciprocal of the frequency at which the illumination apparatus operates when the frequency at which the illumination apparatus operates is not n/2 times the frame rate of the imaging device, according to a result of comparing the frequency at which the illumination apparatus operates and the frame rate of the imaging device. When using the digital photographing apparatus to photograph, frequency information of the illumination apparatus may be easily obtained and flicker may be prevented by using the frequency information to set the shutter speed.

The auto-focusing method includes: setting a reference noise level if an illuminance of a photographing area is larger than a predetermined reference value, and setting a variable noise level that varies according to the illuminance of photographing area if the illuminance of photographing area is smaller than or equal to the predetermined reference value; calculating a focus value of each position of the focus lens while driving the focus lens within the predetermined lens-driving range in the unit of a step and selecting a maximum focus value of the predetermined lens-driving range among the calculated focus values, wherein in the calculating of the focus value, the noise level is subtracted from a pixel data that is larger than the noise level and the result of subtracting is used as the pixel data to calculate the focus value.
