  • Publication number: 20080018813
Abstract: An LCD device includes an LCD panel and a power supply section. The LCD panel includes a first substrate having a storage electrode and a pixel electrode, a second substrate having a common electrode, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates. The LCD panel has an alignment interval during which liquid crystal molecules are transitioned from a splay state to a bend state and a normal operating interval during which an image is displayed in the bend state. The power supply section supplies a first alignment voltage that is higher than the data voltage to the common electrode and supplies a second alignment voltage that is lower than the data voltage to the storage electrode, during the alignment interval. Thus, a transition speed from a transient splay state into a bend state is enhanced, so that an alignment interval may be decreased.

  • Publication number: 20070132707
Abstract: In a display device and a method of driving the display device each having an improved image display quality, the display device includes the display panel assembly, a light emitting unit and a control unit. The display panel assembly has a plurality of unit pixels and displays an image. The light emitting unit is disposed under the display panel assembly to supply light to the display panel assembly, and has a plurality of light emitting diodes (“LEDs”) corresponding to a unit pixel group including a given number of the unit pixels. The control unit is electrically connected to the display panel assembly and the light emitting unit, and controls the unit pixels by arbitrary regions and the LEDs by arbitrary regions. Thus, a contrast ratio of the display device is increased to improve image display quality.

  • Publication number: 20070070026
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel assembly having a plurality of scanning regions that include a plurality of pixels, respectively; a plurality of light source units that include a plurality of light sources supplying light to the plurality of scanning regions, respectively; a data driver that selects gray voltages corresponding to image signals and applies the selected gray voltages to the plurality of pixels as data signals, respectively; and a light source controller that controls the turning on and off of the light sources. One frame is divided into red, green, blue, and black fields, and the light source controller turns off the light source during the black field. Accordingly, the color mixing phenomenon is reduced, and the lighting time of the light source and the charging time of the pixels increase, thereby improving the image quality.

  • Patent number: 6372138
Abstract: A wastewater treatment method for removing organic matter and nitrogen from wastewater. In the wastewater treatment method, an excessive amount of organic matter which prevents nitrifying bacteria from growing is removed in a leading aeration tank, and the conditions of the aeration tank are optimized using the nitrifying carrier to which a great amount of nitrifying bacteria can be attached for growth, such that the nitrifying bacteria can multiply therein. As a result, a large amount of wastewater can be treated within a short time, and it is possible to stably cope with a change in load of the organic matter of the wastewater. Thus, the wastewater treatment apparatus can be smaller, and an improvement in performance thereof can be expected. Also, the wastewater can be treated stably during the winter season when the activity of the nitrifying bacteria becomes low, so that the wastewater treatment method according to the present invention can be applied to most wastewater treatment plants, e.g.
