  • Patent number: 9355674
Abstract: Technologies are described herein for adaptive brownout detection and mitigation in a storage device having rotational storage media. A target position on the rotational storage media for a current write operation is received. A value for a brownout mitigation parameter is determined based on the target position. A brownout condition is then detected on the storage device, and upon detecting the brownout condition, the current write operation is completed before a power-on reset of the storage device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 19, 2013
Date of Patent: May 31, 2016
    Assignee: Seagate Technology LLC
Inventors: Byung Wook Kim, Jeffrey Kwak, In Su Lee, Jae Myung Pi, Dong Wook Lee, Dae Keun Ryoo
  • Patent number: 9191013
Abstract: A circuit may be configured to reduce voltage dip or overshoot that can occur on power supply lines when current loads are turned on or off more quickly than a power supply can respond. The circuit can be configured to generate a compensation voltage that can be coupled into the supply lines when the current load changes.
