    Abstract: Electronic devices including a layer of polymeric material and solid semiconductor dies partially embedded in the layer are provided. The dies have first ends projecting away from the first major surface of the layer. The electronic devices can be formed by sinking the first ends of the dies into a major surface of a liner. A flowable polymeric material is filled into the space between the dies and solidified to form the layer of polymeric material. The first ends of the dies are exposed by delaminating the liner from the first ends of the dies. Electrical conductors are provided on the layer to connect the first ends of the dies.

The system includes a column unifier for querying column values with a predicate generating an indicator bit for each of the column values that is then joined with the respective column value. The system also includes a bitmap generator for creating a column-major linear bitmap from the column values and indicator bits. The column unifier also determines an offset between adjacent indicator bits. The system also includes a converter for multiplying the column-major linear bitmap with a multiplier to shift the indicator bits into consecutive positions in the linear bitmap.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an improved light-emitting device for an AC power operation. A conventional light emitting device employs an AC light-emitting diode having arrays of light emitting cells connected in reverse parallel. The arrays in the prior art alternately repeat on/off in response to a phase change of an AC power source, resulting in short light emission time during a ½ cycle and the occurrence of a flicker effect. An AC light-emitting device according to the present invention employs a variety of means by which light emission time is prolonged during a ½ cycle in response to a phase change of an AC power source and a flicker effect can be reduced. For example, the means may be switching blocks respectively connected to nodes between the light emitting cells, switching blocks connected to a plurality of arrays, or a delay phosphor.

The automatic focus operation is easily performed by using the integrated digital luminance value as stored in a memory circuit. The cassette holder can be smoothly mounted or ejected at a high speed even if the tape cassette is deeply inserted into the holder by the operator.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for removing iodine compounds from acetic acid, in which the iodine compound is removed by using a solid adsorbent in the form of an activated carbon fiber having a large strength, a large bulk density, and a large specific surface, so that the treatment of large amounts should be possible, that the acetic acid should not be contaminated during the extraction of foreign materials from the adsorbent, and that the adsorbent can be repeatedly used by regenerating it. The method includes the steps of: preparing a filter in the usual manner by using an activated carbon fiber as the adsorbent; and making acetic acid containing an iodide pass through the activated carbon fiber filter, whereby the iodide in acetic acid is removed by being adsorbed by the activated carbon fiber filter.

The method is characterized by the technique that silicon particles fluidized within the pulverizing chamber are formed into a dilute-phase fluidized bed with low particle density. Thus, the generation of fine powders may be suppressed and additional sieving to separate larger particles is not required.
