    Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting an obstacle include a camera to photograph first and second images at different points in time successively. A calculator is configured to calculate a movement distance and a rotation amount of a vehicle by comparing the two images photographed by the camera with each other. A rotation amount compensator is configured to compensate for the rotation amount of the first image based on the second image. A difference value calculator is configured to calculate a difference value between the first image of which the rotation amount is compensated for and the second image based on the calculated movement distance of the vehicle. An obstacle detector extracts a region having the difference value exceeding an expectation value to detect the obstacle.

    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for detecting an obstacle are provided. The apparatus includes a memory configured to store program instructions and a processor that is configured to execute the program instructions. The program instructions when executed are configured to compensate a position of a second image based on a first image based on a moving distance of a vehicle between the first image and the second image captured at different times and respectively generate a difference image based on a difference between the first image and the second image and between the first image and the second image in which the position is compensated. In addition, binarization is performed of the difference image and a synthetic image is generated for the two difference images. Then, the obstacle is detected by selecting a pixel corresponding to an area where the bit value is detected from the synthetic image.

A detector detects an overlapped area between the AVM image of the self-vehicle and the AVM image of the surrounding vehicle. An image compositor composites the AVM image of the self-vehicle and the AVM image of the surrounding vehicle by matching the overlapped area between the AVM image of the self-vehicle and the AVM image of the surrounding vehicle.
