  • Patent number: 9291477
Abstract: Disclosed is an energy metering system, apparatus and method that enables an energy meter to reduce power consumed in communication when remotely inspecting the energy meter under an energy pricing system changed depending on time. To this end, the energy meter transmits information on energy consumption at only a changed time of energy price, and operates in a power saving mode except the changed time. If the information on the energy consumption is transmitted at the changed time, the information on the energy consumption in each period having the same energy price is secured, and therefore, a central server has no difficulty in calculating an energy consumption rate. Thus, it is possible to minimize power consumed in communication while transmitting all the information on the energy consumption, required in the central server. Particularly, a battery is used longer in an environment using the battery, thereby reducing maintenance/repair cost.

  • Patent number: 9116014
Abstract: The present disclosure enables comparison of an energy consuming propensity of each energy consumer with that of other energy consumers. To this end, energy usage information of each energy consumer and comparison conditions (size of house, the number of families, energy consuming regions) are collected, and energy consuming propensities of other energy consumers are compared with energy consuming propensity of each energy consumer similar in terms of living environment, and the comparison is shown. A variety of statistical information for comparison is provided through an IHD (In-Home Display) installed at each house, whereby the energy consumers can easily and conveniently evaluate his own energy consuming propensity. An objective evaluation of his or her position related to energy consumption of other energy consumers promotes more active energy conservation and more rational energy consumption by being stimulated by the energy consumption of other energy consumers.

  • Patent number: 8878692
Abstract: Disclosed are an energy management system, an energy management method and a repeater for an energy management system. The repeater receives information on an amount of energy consumption of the individual user from the meter, and receives information on an energy pricing system from the central management server. Then, the repeater analyzes and manages the energy consumption rate of the individual user using the received information, and transmits information on the energy consumption rate to the meter or the central management server. The repeater may also analyze various information such as information on an energy consumption propensity of the individual user. The repeater immediately transmits essential information but transmits incidental information only when there is a request of the meter or the central management server. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce communication traffic between the central management server and the plurality of meters.

  • Patent number: 8855831
Abstract: According to the present disclosure, information on the amount of energy used is received from a meter in an energy consumption place and total rate of energy used in the energy consumption place using the received information. Further, when the calculated total rate of energy exceeds an upper limit set by a user in advance, a mobile terminal of the user is informed of it so as to enable the user to selectively control energy usage equipment in the energy consumption place. Since mobile terminals are carried by the user, when an energy usage rate exceeds an upper limit by an increased amount of energy used or energy price change, the user can identify it at anytime and anywhere. Further, the user can maintain the energy usage rate below a predetermined level by selectively controlling the energy usage equipment in the energy consumption place using the mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 8831786
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique using an electric vehicle. The technique enables a user to set the operation plan of the electric vehicle and the price of electricity used to charge/discharge an electric vehicle battery. The electric vehicle battery is charged, or the electric energy charged in the electric vehicle battery is collected, according to the set information. Accordingly, it is possible to charge the electric vehicle battery at the price approved by the user under variable pricing of electric energy. When the price of electricity increases or there is no operation plan of the electric vehicle, the electric energy stored in the battery is collected to operate electric devices or resell the stored electric energy to an electric power company, thereby obtaining economic benefit. As the spread of electric vehicles are extended, it can be expected to save a considerable amount of electric energy throughout the whole society.

  • Publication number: 20120059609
Abstract: A system for electric energy management inspects admittances or impedances at several positions on the same power line, and determines the presence of electricity theft based on them. Particularly, each of the admittances or impedances is calculated based on information on an amount of electricity measured by each watt-hour meter. Since information on amounts of electricity respectively measured at an upper place and several lower places on the same power line have a certain correspondence relation, the calculated admittances or impedances also have a relation. For example, the admittance or impedance at the upper place is necessarily corresponds to the equivalent value of the admittances or impedance at the lower places. Thus, it is possible to precisely determine the presence of electricity theft by monitoring whether or not the difference value is within an acceptable range in consideration of an error of measuring the amount of electricity, or the like.
