Abstract: A method and apparatus configure a network between users in a communication system. In a server, the method includes receiving user information from a terminal for purchasing contents, storing information on a purchaser for each of a plurality of contents, and configuring the network including users who purchase identical contents. Accordingly, the network can be automatically configured between user terminals on the basis of a contents purchase history of the user terminal in the communication system.

Abstract: A multimedia apparatus and a method for providing content by generating at least one flag on a screen; designating categories with respect to the at least one flag; and if one of the at least one flags is moved to a particular content displayed on the screen, setting the particular content to the category corresponding to the one flag. Therefore, content is classified and managed according to categories by using a flag, and thus a user further intuitively manages and accesses content.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an infinite wavelength antenna device, which includes: a board body made of a dielectric and having a slab structure; a feed part arranged on one surface of the board body, and generating a magnetic field when power is applied; and an MNG resonance part arranged on the board body so that a preset distance is maintained from the feed part and at least a portion thereof is placed within the magnetic field, grounded through both ends thereof, resonating at a specific frequency band when the magnetic field is generated, and having a negative permeability. In the present invention, as the infinite wavelength antenna device operates according to the infinite wavelength property, the resonant frequency band may be determined independently of the size of the antenna device. Hence, miniaturization of the infinite wavelength antenna device can be realized.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for upgrading to a new codec used in a digital broadcasting environment are provided. The apparatus includes a first transceiver that receives a transport stream; a first parser that parses the transport stream to determine a codec packet, and decodes codec information contained therein; and a codec-comparison unit that compares the decoded codec information with existing codec information, and determines whether a codec should be downloaded. The system includes a device manufacturer that manufactures a codec packet; a broadcaster that transmits a transport stream containing the codec packet; and a rendering device that parses the transport stream, compares existing codec information with new codec information, and upgrades a codec based on the comparison. The method includes receiving a transport stream; parsing the stream; decoding new codec information; comparing the new codec information with existing information; and upgrading the codec based on the new codec information.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a planar composite right/left handed (CRLH) antenna, comprising: a substrate body which is made of dielectric materials, and which has a planer structure; a radiation line which is disposed on one side of the substrate body, and which is bent to form a slot for exposing a predetermined width of the substrate body through both ends thereof, and which resonates at a predetermined frequency band when fed; and a feeder line which is disposed on the outer side of the substrate body, which extends across the slot, and which feeds electric power to the radiation line. The planar CRLH antenna of the present invention is small in size, and expands a radiation area, thereby expanding an available frequency band, or using a dual frequency band.

Abstract: Disclosed is a folding-type portable device. The folding-type portable device includes a first body having an abutment for cradling a portable terminal; a second body rotatably connected to the first body through a first hinge, so that the second body is folded or unfolded in relation to the first body, the second body being rotated to a predetermined angle in relation to the first body, thereby supporting the first body in a tilted state; and an optical module connected to the second body through a second hinge in such a manner that the optical module can be independently rotated, the optical module having a lens which is exposed or hidden depending on whether the optical module is rotated. The portable device may be used as an assistant portable device for extending functionality of a portable terminal.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing available codec information, includes a receiving unit that receives electronic program guide (EPG) data transmitted by a broadcasting operator; a codec-management unit that checks the position information of the codec based on the received EPG data, and manages the point of downloading time of the codec; an interface-generation unit that generates the position information of the checked codec, and provides the information to the EPG screen; and a display unit that displays the EPG screen including the position information of the codec.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for generating DSP code using a combination of software modules, more particularly, an apparatus and method for generating a DSP code by receiving and combining desired modules. The apparatus includes a storage unit that stores one or more software modules, a DSP-code generator that combines the stored software modules, and generates DSP code executing multimedia content, and a DSP-processing unit that decodes and processes the generated DSP code.

The method includes the operations of receiving an instruction to reproduce content, checking whether the operation of the screen saver can be controlled, calculating a reproduction time of the content if the operation of the screen saver is controllable, and changing a set time of the screen saver so that the screen saver is not operated during the reproduction time.

Abstract: A method for displaying a reservation guide/confirmation screen in a tv includes the steps of: displaying a reservation guide screen if a user selects a reservation mode, setting the user's desired reservation state using a predetermined key on the reservation guide screen, and displaying a reservation confirmation screen if the user selects a reservation confirmation mode. In the reservation mode, day or date is displayed on a horizontal axis and a user's desired time zone is displayed on a vertical axis in a two-dimensional timetable. Therefore, the user can easily recognize a reservation guide/confirmation screen. Furthermore, since reservation can be set and confirmed on the screen of two-dimensional timetable type using a mouse or key, convenience can be provided to the user.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically compensating a sound volume are disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining whether a channel conversion key and an audio input switching key are inputted, producing an energy of an audio signal when the channel conversion key is inputted, and comparing an energy value of the audio signal detected for a predetermined time period with an energy value obtained from a previous step thereof and compensating for as much volume as a difference obtained by the comparison. The method together with the apparatus considers a symmetrical characteristic of an audio signal, calculates a voice energy with regard to a half signal of the audio signal, converts the calculated signal to a simplified value, and automatically compensates for the volume accordingly, thereby removing redundant manual steps.

Abstract: In a channel managing apparatus and method for a digital/analog TV, if a user selects a desired channel, a type of broadcasting corresponding to the channel selected by the user is automatically switched to tune the channel. The channel managing apparatus for a digital/analog TV includes a memory for storing tabled channel information of all the broadcasting signals including digital and analog broadcasting signals, a controller for extracting channel information corresponding to a channel selected by a user if the user selects the channel and for outputting a control signal to tune the corresponding channel, a first switching portion for selecting one of outputs of a digital broadcasting receiver and an analog broadcasting receiver, and a signal processing and display portion for processing and displaying output signals of the first switching portion.
