Abstract: A method for supplying an N-screen service by a main N-screen device in a broadcast system is provided. The method includes receiving an Application Information Table (AIT) including a screen_type indicating a type of N-screen device in which a broadcast service application will be run from a broadcast service provider, and one of running the broadcast service application based on the screen_type, performing an operation related to running the broadcast service application by considering a connection relationship between the main N-screen device and a sub N-screen device based on the screen_type, and discarding the AIT based on the screen_type.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for generating 3D image files based on 2D image media standards. First and second image data are photographed, pre-processed, and stored. The first and second image data are encoded. A 3D image file is generated. The 3D image file includes a first area having the first and second image data synchronized with the first image data so as to be used for generating a 3D image, a second area including at least information on a number of frames and a size of each frame for the first image data, and a third area, separate from the second area, having information on a number of frames and a size of each frame for the second image data. Information stored in third area is for regenerating the 3D image and not for regenerating a 2D image.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting mobility in a mobile broadcasting system in which Electronic Service Guide (ESG) discovery is required. The mobility support is classified into three ways according to three different aspects. The first way is to provide roaming information for a local IPDC operator having a roaming partner among local IPDC operators. In the second way, a terminal transmits a query message for requesting transmission of information on a particular local IPDC operator, and receives information on the particular local IPDC operator in response thereto. The third way is to provide the terminal with type information of an ESG; an access type of which is classified according to provision of a roaming service. The roaming information, the information on the particular local IPDC operator and the type information of the ESG, which are provided to the terminal from the mobile broadcasting system, can be provided in an ESG bootstrap level.

Abstract: A method of configuring a markup for composition of multimedia elements in a multimedia communication system is provided. The method includes configuring area description information corresponding to each of a plurality of areas included in a scene, configuring multimedia description information corresponding to at least one multimedia included in each of the plurality of areas, configuring scene composition information describing spatial composition and temporal composition of each of the plurality of areas, and configuring a markup including the scene composition information, the area description information, and the multimedia description information.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for providing a widget service. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method for providing a widget service for a receiving device using a Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)-2 layer, the method comprising the steps of: receiving MPEG broadcast data; loading a widget general information table (WGIT) stored in program specific information (PSI) of the MPEG broadcast data; loading the information indicated by a widget information table (WIT) of the WGIT; and generating a widget using the information indicated by the WIT.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmitting a multimedia frame through a heterogeneous network in a broadcast system supporting a multimedia service based on an internet protocol are provided. The method includes generating header information including a frame identifier distinguishing a multimedia frame and information measuring a quality of a connection service between network layers and end-to-end network capabilities, and combining the header information and multimedia data to configure the multimedia frame.

Abstract: A method for transmitting content in a digital broadcast system is provided. The method for transmitting content in a broadcast system includes a process of generating user-preference content and forced-view content, a process of dividing the user-preference content and forced-view content into data units, and a process of performing repeated encryption by inserting an encryption key into at least one of the data units of the forced-view content with the exception of the first data unit. The encryption key includes a key capable of decrypting the next data unit for each data unit.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for driving an application, contained in a hybrid multimedia service, in a broadcast system that provides a user equipment with the hybrid multimedia service based on a hybrid network including at least a broadcast network and a network supporting an Internet protocol is provided. To this end, a broadcast server constituting the broadcast system constructs control information to be used for acquiring an instruction table for driving the application contained in the hybrid multimedia service, and transmits the constructed control information to the user equipment in a predetermined format. The user equipment may acquire the instruction table using the control information provided from the broadcast server, and drive a desired application using the acquired instruction table.

Abstract: An event-processing method and system are provided for efficiently re-delivering notification events stored by a Remote User Interface Server (RUIS), from the RUIS to remote user interface clients (RUICs), in a home network supporting an RUI. An RUIC transmits an information request to the remote user interface server, receives, from the RUIS, notification event information corresponding to the information request, transmits a notification event request based on the received notification event information to the RUIS, and receives, from the RUIS, at least one notification event corresponding to the notification event request.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting a multimedia data packet are provided. The method includes receiving Bottom-up Network Abstraction Layer (B-NAL) information from a network entity, determining a media data quality based on the received B-NAL information and generating media data having the determined media data quality, and generating a packet including the generated media data and transmitting the packet to the network entity.
