Abstract: A method for transmitting complex multimedia data is provided. The method includes selecting one of a data headers composed of basic transmission units determined according to an amount of multimedia included in the complex multimedia data, generating a basic transmission unit of the complex multimedia data according to the selected data header, packetizing the complex multimedia data in the basic transmission unit; and transmitting the packetized complex multimedia data to a receiver.

Abstract: A plurality of video input units generate video frames and provide shooting characteristics. A 3D video frame generator creates a 3D video frame by combining a plurality of video frames, which are provided from the plurality of video input units, respectively, and provides 3D video frame composition information indicating a composition type of the plurality of video frames included in the 3D video frame, and resolution control information indicating adjustment/non-adjustment of resolutions of the video frames. A 3D video frame encoder outputs an encoded 3D video stream by encoding the 3D video frame provided from the 3D video frame generator. A composition information checker checks 3D video composition information including the shooting information, the 3D video frame composition information, and the resolution control information. A 3D video data generator generates 3D video data by combining the 3D video composition information and the encoded 3D video stream.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for updating a User Interface (UI) in a Remote UI (RUI) client are described. Upon detecting a change in its capability, the RUI client stores a UI state of a UI page and requests a RUI server to update the UI page according to the changed capability. The RUI client receives a UI page updated according to the changed capability from the RUI server, where the stored UI state is reflected in the updated UI page, and the RUI client renders the UI state-reflected updated UI page.

Abstract: A method for transmitting and receiving a message for Downloadable-Conditional Access System (D-CAS) or Downloadable-Digital Rights Management (D-DRM) in Moving Picture Experts Group Media Transport (MMT) is provided. The method includes, upon receiving Composition Information (CI) from an MMT server, acquiring signaling information for D-CAS or D-DRM, which is included in the CI, acquiring, from the signaling information, an address of a server from which software of D-CAS or D-DRM is downloadable, generating a request for the software based on the signaling information, and sending the request for the software to the server address.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a broadcasting and communication convergence service are provided. The method includes acquiring address information about an Internet server configured to provide an application customized based on user information and/or device information about a terminal, transmitting an application request message to the Internet server using the address information, receiving the customized application on a broadcast channel from the Internet server in response to the application request message, and consuming the customized application.

Abstract: A method for network operators to control traffic between a server and a client so that client-induced traffic preemption may be prevented is provided. The method includes the processes of an operator determining a network status, the network in which a server is streaming content via a multi-media transmission system, in accordance with a status of the network, determining whether to modify meta data by considering a set of predetermined conditions, and transmitting to a terminal data reflecting the modification decision.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting a multimedia data packet are provided. The method includes receiving Bottom-up Network Abstraction Layer (B-NAL) information from a network entity, determining a media data quality based on the received B-NAL information and generating media data having the determined media data quality, and generating a packet including the generated media data and transmitting the packet to the network entity.

Abstract: A method and device for creating an integrated User Interface (UI) by combining individual application UIs. The device receives application UIs from individual UI providing devices, combines the application UIs into the integrated UI, and displays the integrated UI. When an application UI is selected from the integrated UI, the device sends a function invocation signal to a corresponding device in order to perform the particular function corresponding to the selected application UI.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided for generating a stereoscopic file. The apparatus includes a memory configured to store a stereoscopic file, the stereoscopic file including an svmi box for stereoscopic video media information, the svmi box including a first value indicating a stereoscopic composition type, and an scdi box for stereoscopic camera and display information, the svmi box including a second value associated with two cameras of a stereoscopic camera; a reproduction device configured to parse the svmi box and the scdi box to reproduce the stereoscopic file; and a display device configured to display the reproduced stereoscopic file.

Abstract: A method for managing multimedia data by a contents server comprises the steps of: generating one or more chunks from an input image; generating chunk information of the input image including a list of the generated chunks; performing an identity check among chunks on the basis of the chunk information of the input image and chunk information stored in the contents server; and updating the stored chunk information according to a result of the identity check, wherein the chunks are a meaningful scene unit in an image.

A live content processing method for a broadcast system includes transmitting and updating content-related information sent from a server to a client, checking, at the client, content segments accessible in real time and saving a previous content-related information, retrieving the content segments playable by referencing the previous content-related information, determining, at the client, whether the content requested for playback can be playable using a playlist, and notifying the user of the playback result.

Abstract: In an apparatus for providing a multimedia streaming service, a server transmits a Media Presentation Description (MPD) including information about media data to a client, receives a partial request message requesting a part of media data having a range according to a defined range in the MPD, and transmits to the client a segment having the range in response to the partial request message. The segment includes at least one fragment, segment index information indicating the position of the at least one fragment in the segment, and fragment index information including information indicating the position of each of a plurality of samples included in the at least one fragment and information about a total size of the samples.
