  • Patent number: 6039663
Abstract: A belt steering apparatus for controlling inclined movement of the belt in, for example, a printer. The belt steering apparatus includes a first frame supporting a cylindrical roller having a predetermined portion which contacts an endless rotating belt, a second frame hinged to the center of the first frame, and a sliding member capable of sliding linearly, installed at one side of the first frame, and having an upper surface supporting a rotary shaft formed at one end of the roller, inclined from the direction of linear movement by a predetermined angle. A rack gear is provided on one side of the sliding member, and a pinion gear is connected to a rotary shaft of a motor mounted to the first frame, contacting a predetermined portion of the rack gear to linearly move the sliding member. Thus, the roller is easily tilted to forcibly raise and lower one side of the roller, and the pressure transferred from the belt can be withstood reliably.

  • Patent number: 5944426
Abstract: A fluid bearing apparatus includes a thrust load supporting portion formed between an external side surface of a fixing shaft and an internal side wall of an opening in a bushing; the surface and wall facing each other. The thrust load supporting portion includes a ball inserting groove formed on the external side surface of the fixing shaft and/or the internal side wall of the bushing and a ball inserted into the ball inserting groove. The upper end portion of the shaft is lower than the upper end portion of the bushing. Since the thrust load is supported by the balls instead of by the upper end portion of the fixing shaft, it is possible to prevent movement of the fixing shaft when the fluid bearing apparatus starts to rotate. The frictional resistance of the upper end portion of the fixing shaft can be reduced when the fluid bearing apparatus starts to rotate and stops its rotation.

  • Patent number: 5860299
Abstract: A clothes washing machine includes a water tub, a spin basket, and a clothes agitator. A vertical dehydrating shaft is fixed to the spin basket, and a laundering shaft extends coaxially within the dehydrating shaft. Upper and lower ends of the laundering shaft are connected to the agitator and a motor respectively, whereby rotation of the motor is always transmitted to the agitator. In order to selectively connect the dehydrating shaft to the laundering shaft (e.g., during a spin-drying operation), a connecting gear is mounted on the dehydrating shaft for rotation therewith and for vertical movement relative thereto. A power-driven actuator is provided for selectively moving the connecting gear up or down. When the connecting gear moves down, lower teeth thereon become operably connected to the motor so that the dehydrating shaft and laundering shaft rotate together.

  • Patent number: 5855436
Abstract: A fluid bearing apparatus having an increased contact area between a body and a bushing and having a compact size. In the fluid bearing apparatus according to the present invention, a body extends from a shaft fixed to a lower bearing bracket in a lengthwise direction, which has a conical groove at one end and a truncated cone at the other end. An upper bushing includes a recess for receiving the one end of the body and having a conical protrusion formed therein. The conical protrusion is inserted into the conical groove of the body. A lower bushing has a recess receiving the other end of the body and a through hole extending through the lower bushing. The shaft is slidably inserted into the through hole. The upper bushing is separately combined with the lower bushing. Accordingly, the bushing which receives the body, may be decreased in volume, so that a motor to which the fluid bearing apparatus is applied, can be reduced in a total size.

  • Patent number: 5813621
Abstract: A reel table moving mechanism selectively receives tape cassettes having different sizes. The mechanism includes a deck member in which a head drum and a tape guiding unit are installed and having first and second openings formed to be spaced from each other, each having a predetermined length. A pair of reel tables, operative to move along the first and second openings, selectively receive first and second tape cassettes of a different size. Each reel table has a stopper for locking a pair of reels and a releasing lever for releasing the stopper. A pair of first and second reel bases on which the reel tables are mounted are slidably supported to the deck member. First and second shafts are supported by a supporting mechanism at one side of each of the first and second openings and are slidably connected to the first and second bases. A mechanism moves the first and second reel bases, and first and second releasing devices release each releasing lever of the first and second tape cassettes from being locked.
