  • Publication number: 20060279215
Abstract: Provided is a flat fluorescent lamp for a display device, having a plurality of discharge channels provided parallel to each other. The discharge channels have a characteristic structure of alternating the broad channel region with large cross-section area and the narrow channel region with small cross-sectional area along the longitudinal direction of the discharge channel. Thus, it is possible to enhance luminance of and improve discharge efficiency of the flat fluorescent lamp.

  • Publication number: 20060059951
Abstract: A system for producing upper plates of flat fluorescent lamps (FFL upper plates) is disclosed. In the system, various units used for producing the FFL upper plates are placed on or around multi-storied conveyors of a conveying unit, so that the area and space required to situate the various units is minimized. The system also allows an FFL upper plate producing process, including glass panel feeding, glass panel heating, glass panel shaping to provide an FFL upper plate, FFL upper plate heat-treatment, and FFL upper plate discharge, to be executed quickly and continuously in real time, thus maximizing work efficiency and productivity when producing the FFL upper plates.

  • Publication number: 20060061274
Abstract: A gas injection port structure of a flat fluorescent lamp (FFL) used as a backlight unit (BLU) in display devices, such as LCDs, is disclosed. The FFL has a flat lower plate, an upper plate having a protruding channel and being integrated with the lower plate into a single body, and a gas injection port provided on the FFL. The gas injection port is formed on the upper plate of the FFL at a predetermined position while lying on the upper plate so that the gas injection port is level with or lower than a height of the protruding channel of the upper plate. The gas injection port may contain therein both a mercury getter and a sealing material having a passage formed through the sealing material. The gas injection port minimizes the thickness of the FFL, and accomplishes the recent trend of thinness of display devices having the FFLs.

  • Publication number: 20060043869
Abstract: A flat fluorescent lamp (FFL) for display devices, which has an improved electrode structure for plasma discharge, thus being efficiently operated using a low voltage and having high optical efficiency, is disclosed. The FFL of the present invention is provided with a plurality of branch electrodes extending from main electrodes, provided on opposite ends of a lamp body, in opposite directions toward the opposite main electrodes and being parallel to longitudinal axes of the discharge channels. Furthermore, the FFL may include joint electrodes which electrically couple the branch electrodes, provided around each of the opposite ends of the lamp body, to each other. The FFL may further include step electrodes and/or inductive electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20050256922
Abstract: A system and method for calculating a real time voltage stability risk index in a power system are disclosed. The disclosed system comprises a real time phasor measurement device for calculating a voltage stability risk index using RMS voltage and an upper voltage stability monitoring system for collecting and sequencing the voltage stability risk index transferred from the real time phasor measurement device. The disclosed method comprises calculating RMS voltage by using bus voltage measured; calculating an N moving average voltage for the RMS voltages; calculating a % diversity between the bus voltage measured and the N moving average voltage; calculating a voltage stability risk index by dividing the area constructed by the % diversity by the number of sections; transferring the voltage stability risk index from a real time phasor measurement device to an upper voltage stability monitoring system; acquiring and sequencing the voltage stability risk indexes transferred.
