  • Patent number: 8238918
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of performing handover from an asynchronous mobile communication network to a synchronous mobile communication network. If the access network of the asynchronous mobile communication network (100) requests handover to an MSC (104) of the asynchronous mobile communication network, the MSC requests/receives subscriber information of the mobile communication terminal from a dual-stack HLR (300), and transmits a handover request message to the synchronous mobile communication network (200). The MSC (203) of the synchronous mobile communication network assigns a forward channel to the mobile communication terminal. The asynchronous mobile communication network (100) transmits a handover instruction message to the asynchronous RF device of the mobile communication terminal. Accordingly, the mobile communication terminal sets up a synchronous RF device, connects to the synchronous mobile communication network through reverse channel assignment and synchronization.

  • Patent number: 8014773
Abstract: In the mobile communication system, asynchronous and synchronous Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs) are interconnected via an Interworking Interoperability Function (IIF), and are connected to a Dual stack Home Location Register (D-HLR). The D-HLR stores and manages asynchronous subscription and synchronous subscription information of the mobile communication terminal. The IIF stores and manages the synchronous mobile communication system information, receives the synchronous subscription information of the mobile communication terminal from the D-HLR, transmits synchronous system information and the synchronous subscription information of the mobile communication terminal to the synchronous MSC and receives a response from the synchronous MSC, and requests the asynchronous MSC to release a wireless connection when the mobile communication terminal and the synchronous mobile communication system are interconnected and notification of completion of the handover is provided.

  • Patent number: 7983676
Abstract: A method of handover in a wireless communication system in which an asynchronous system and a synchronous system are mixed is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: the asynchronous system ordering a dual mode mobile terminal to perform a handover from the asynchronous system to the synchronous system; when the handover order is received at the mobile terminal, the mobile terminal transmitting a frame or a preamble through a reverse traffic channel to the synchronous system, reporting to the synchronous system that the handover is completed and initiating a timer of the mobile terminal which is set according to a predetermined time; the mobile terminal switching from an asynchronous vocoder into a synchronous vocoder when the timer expires; and the wireless communication system switching vocoders of asynchronous and synchronous MSCs when the report is received.

  • Patent number: 7809800
Abstract: The present invention presents a method for providing the location information of a mobile station(MS) by selectively using a DBM-based method and a TCP/IP-based method on a global positioning system(GPS) in a mobile telecommunication network constituted of a client server, a mobile positioning center(MPC), a home location register(HLR), and a position determination Entity(PDE). By selectively using a DBM-based method or a TCP/IP-based method according to the type of requested service, the present invention enables to reduce the time required for obtaining the accurate location. Moreover, it can provide the requested location based service(LBS) on an MS even when the MS is on-line or on stand-by mode.

Abstract: In the mobile communication system, asynchronous and synchronous Mobile Switching Centers (MSCs) are interconnected via an Interworking Interoperability Function (HF), and are connected to a Dual stack Home Location Register (D-HLR). The D-HLR stores and manages asynchronous subscription and synchronous subscription information of the mobile communication terminal. The HF stores and manages the synchronous mobile communication system information, receives the synchronous subscription information of the mobile communication terminal from the D-HLR, transmits synchronous system information and the synchronous subscription information of the mobile communication terminal to the synchronous MSC and receives a response from the synchronous MSC, and requests the asynchronous MSC to release a wireless connection when the mobile communication terminal and the synchronous mobile communication system are interconnected and notification of completion of the handover is provided.

  • Patent number: 7260406
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for tracking location of synchronous and asynchronous mobile communication network subscribers by using a dual stack home location register and a dual stack mobile positioning center. When the dual stack mobile positioning center externally receives a location tracking request for a subscriber, it requests reception subscriber information to the dual stack home location register, confirms whether the terminal is located in a synchronous or asynchronous mobile communication network by referring to the reception subscriber information from the dual stack home location register and network information, and requests location tracking for the terminal to the corresponding mobile communication network. Accordingly, location of the synchronous and asynchronous mobile communication network subscribers can be tracked in the network in which mobile communication networks using different protocols coexist.
