Patent number: 9460248Abstract: Predicting a degree of molten steel contamination during ladle exchange includes setting a casting quantity (Q) and a residual quantity (Qrm). Casting quantity (Q) is the molten steel amount transferred from a tundish to a mold when a first ladle operation ends. Residual quantity (Qrm) is the molten steel amount existing in the tundish when a second ladle starts. Casting amount (Qplug), a first contaminant concentration is calculated as a function of Qrm and a proportional coefficient. Casting amount (Qpeak), the amount a second contaminant concentration, is calculated as a function of Qrm and a second proportional coefficient. A preliminary degree of contamination is a linear function of Q, Qplug, and Qpeak. A second preliminary degree of contamination is an exponential function of Q, Qplug, and Qpeak. The smaller of the two preliminary degrees of contamination is selected to obtain a degree of contamination at the ladle operation end and a second degree of contamination at the second ladle operation start.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2013Date of Patent: October 4, 2016Assignee: Hyundai Steel CompanyInventors: Jae Hwan Ahn, Kyung Soo Kim, Hong Kil Moon

Patent number: 8681989Abstract: A WCDMA 3G voice communication protection method and a terminal using the method are provided. The method is performed by a terminal operating in conjunction with an S-USIM for voice communication protection. When a calling terminal connects a voice communication channel to a called terminal, secure voice communication is prepared for by collecting information about relevant voice communication. At the calling terminal, synchronous data is set by exchanging the voice communication information with the called terminal, and a secure synchronization procedure is performed based on the set synchronous data. At each of S-USIMs that operate in conjunction with the calling and called terminals, a session key for secure voice communication is generated based on the synchronous data. Secure communication is performed by encrypting and transmitting voice-coded data to be transmitted based on the session key, and decrypting and reproducing received voice-coded data based on the session key.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2012Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Electronics & Telecommunications Research InstituteInventors: Yong-Seok Park, Jong-Mok Son, Jae-Hwan Ahn, Dong-Wook Lee, Yong-Ick Chung, Jang-Hong Yoon

Patent number: 7579970Abstract: In a timing recovery method, two consecutive sampling values may be generated based on a sampled input signal. The input signal may be sampled according to a phase interval of a sampling clock. A slope between the two consecutive sampling values may be calculated, and a difference between a target slope and the calculated slope may be determined. A phase of the sampling clock may be compensated based on the difference between the target slope and the calculated slope.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2005Date of Patent: August 25, 2009Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: II-Won Seo, Jae-Hwan Ahn

Patent number: 4619714Abstract: An improved, energy efficient, hot rolling method for direct production of cold formable dual-phase steel is provided. The steel is heated to completely austenitize it and then continuously hot rolled and cooled down into the ferrite-austenite two phase region to a temperature which is just below the effective Ar.sub.3 temperature. The hot rolled steel is then rapidly quenched to provide an alloy containing strong, tough lath martensite (fibers) in a ductile soft ferrite matrix. The method is particularly useful for providing rods in which form the alloy is capable of being drawn into high strength wire or the like in a cold drawing operation without any intermediate annealing or patenting, and has excellent strength, ductility and fatigue characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1984Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Gareth Thomas, Jae-Hwan Ahn, Nack-Joon Kim
