    Abstract: The exemplary embodiment suggests an apparatus and a method for driving a light source of a backlight unit. The apparatus for driving the light source of the backlight unit comprises a plurality of LED columns; a power output terminal and feedback terminals connected to the LED columns; and an LED driver sequentially driving the LEDs according to sequentially delayed PWM signals. The LED driver decides an operable number of LED channel based on the signals input through the feedback terminals, and sequentially delays the PWM signals with the phase difference controlled by the number of LED channel.

The method includes performing color sensing of a first color using a color sensor of the mobile terminal and recognizing a second color which corresponds to the first color; and providing an output based on the second color. The mobile terminal includes a main body; a color sensor configured to perform color sensing of a first color; a controller configured to recognize a second color which corresponds to the first color; and an output unit configured to provide an output that is based on the second color. Therefore, it is possible to change the color of the mobile terminal into a variety of colors by driving the lighting module in accordance with color data generated by the color sensor.
