Patent number: 11698281Abstract: Geothermal two-phase flow metering device and measurement method in geothermal well and large diameter pipelines are disclosed herein. The method thereof is measuring the enthalpy and mass flow rate of the two-phase fluid in real-time. The device mainly includes a primary, a secondary and a multi-tapping pressure components. The primary component can be an Orifice plate or Nozzle or Venturi tube. The secondary component is a transmitters-transducers. The multi tapping pressure used are radius, flanges, and corners. The example system includes data signal of upstream pressure, downstream and the pressure difference of the multi tapping is recorded and calculated in the flow computer machine. A flow meter has good accuracy with less noise for a wide range of wells output and pipeline size range, which is very useful for the geothermal industry.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2020Date of Patent: July 11, 2023Assignee: PT. Publication number: 20210072060Abstract: The methods and instrumentations for measuring in real-time the two-phase mass flow rate and the enthalpy from the geothermal wells and large diameter pipelines can be used in memory and on-line to measure the mass flow rate and enthalpy when the two-phase pipeline is in operation or during testing. This measuring instrument consists of primary, secondary and multi-tapping components. The primary component can be a concentric orifice plate, a top eccentric orifice plate, a bottom eccentric orifice plate, a segmental orifice plate, Nozzle or Venturi tube. The secondary component is a transmitters-transducers. The multi tapping used are radius (ID and ID/2), flanges, corners and other arrangement or different combinations. On this device system, the data signal of upstream pressure, downstream and the pressure difference of the multi tapping is recorded and transmitted or recorded by the transmitters-transducers to the computer machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2020Publication date: March 11, 2021Inventors: Mohamad Husni Mubarok, Sadiq Jafar Mohammed Zarrouk, John Edward Cater

Patent number: 10670541Abstract: Several embodiments include a method of computing void fraction in a two-phase mixture in a pipe. A driver and a transmitter antenna can transmit a radio frequency (RF) signal through the pipe. The pipe can convey the two-phase mixture extracted from a geothermal well. The RF signal can pass through the two-phase mixture. A receiver antenna in the pipe can receive the RF signal. A receiver circuit can measure signal strength attenuations of the RF signal at the receiver antenna over a time window. A computation engine can compute an average of the signal strength attenuations over the time window. The computation engine or another computing device can then compute, in real-time, a change in a void fraction of the two-phase mixture based on the average of the signal strength attenuations.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2017Date of Patent: June 2, 2020Assignees: Steamfield Sensors, Inc., Auckland UniServices LimitedInventors: John R. Sisler, Sadiq Jafar Mohammed Zarrouk

Patent number: 10281310Abstract: Several embodiments include a method of computing a phase composition ratio of a two-phase mixture in a pipe. For example, the phase composition ratio is a void fraction or a dryness fraction. The two-phase mixture can have one or more material substances that do not travel as a whole (e.g., at least two of solid phase, liquid phase, and gaseous phase or two liquid materials of different densities that do not mix). A load cell can measure, continuously, weight of the pipe and content of the pipe. Then, a computing system or a circuit can compute, continuously, a moving average of the continuously measured weight. The computing system or the circuit can compute a change in the phase composition ratio of the two-phase mixture based on the computed moving average.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2017Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignees: AUCKLAND UNISERVICES LIMITED, STEAMFIELD SENSORS, INC.Inventors: John R. Sisler, Kenneth D. Boetzer, Sadiq Jafar Mohammed Zarrouk
