  • Patent number: 4097663
Abstract: An emulsion copolymer resin which contains from about 75% to about 90% by weight vinyl chloride, from about 5% to about 15% vinyl acetate and from about 5% to about 15% of a bis(hydrocarbyl)vinylphosphonate, has a fusion temperature of from about 200.degree. F. to about 300.degree. F. and has utility as a low fusion resin in the formation of cellular polyvinyl chloride products.

  • Patent number: 4086194
Abstract: Reaction of halides of alkyl and aryl phosphonic acids of the formula RP(O)X.sub.2, where R is an C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl or aryl, e.g., phenyl, group or a halo- substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl group or aryl group, e.g., phenyl, and an epoxy group containing alcohol of the formula ##STR1## where n is an integer from 1 to 8, e.g., glycidol, give a compound having the formula ##STR2## where R and n are as defined above which can be used as a flame retardant in polyurethane foams.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 6, 1975

Inventors: Siegfried Altscher, Jagadish C. Goswami
  • Patent number: 4078130
Abstract: Polyvinyl halide-bis(hydrocarbyl) vinylphosphonate films and foams are crosslinked by the use of amine crosslinking agents to form products having good dimensional stability for use as cushioning materials, as insulator materials and for structural applications.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 17, 1976
Date of Patent: March 7, 1978
    Assignee: Stauffer Chemical Company
    Inventor: Jagadish C. Goswami
  • Patent number: 3983294
Abstract: Plastic foam laminates are formed by heating a laminate of a base and a plastic film, said film comprising a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-bis(hydrocarbyl) vinylphosphonate suspension copolymer and a blowing agent, at a temperature of about 140.degree.C. to about 160.degree.C. The foam which is formed thereby has a fine, uniform cell quality.
