  • Patent number: 11624380
Abstract: A valve positioner for use on a process control valve or “valve assembly.” The process control valve may include a pneumatic actuator and a valve having a closure member coupled with the pneumatic actuator and moveable relative to a seat. The valve positioner may couple to the pneumatic actuator to provide a pneumatic signal to set a position of the closure member relative to the seat. An accelerometer may couple with the valve positioner. The accelerometer may generate data in response to orientation of the valve positioner. In one implementation, the configurations can use this data to ensure proper visualization of data on a display. The data also permits the device to properly manage operating modes, like tight shut-off or fully-opened mode, that may prevail due to orientation issues that cause defects in a measured position for a closure member that regulates flow of material through the valve assembly.

  • Publication number: 20230084950
Abstract: A system (10) for monitoring complex structures (15) is disclosed. The system includes a boundary creation module (50) to create a group of elements corresponding to the complex structures to define a structure boundary. The boundary creation module collects sensor data from sensors (55) coupled to the corresponding complex structures within the structure boundary. The system includes a relation identification module (60) to determine correlation across the sensor data corresponding to the sensors within the structure boundary using a deep learning model. The relation identification module identifies interrelations between the group of elements by tracking the correlation across the sensor data using the deep learning model. The system includes an anomaly detection module (70) to identify a set of characteristics of the sensor data based on the interrelations the group of elements. The anomaly detection module detects an anomaly in the group of elements by analyzing the set of characteristics.

  • Patent number: 11334057
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable storage mediums for performing sensor health monitoring are described. The method includes verifying data quality and suppressing alert generation using machine learning techniques to identify whether two anomalies generated by an asset monitoring system are related. The method can include receiving data characterizing measurement data acquired by a sensor coupled to an industrial asset. An anomalous data sample within the received data can be identified and removed from the anomalous data sample. A new sample of the removed data sample can be estimated using interpolation and the new sample can be assessed. Maintenance analysis can be performed based on the assessed, estimated new sample.

  • Patent number: 11306748
Abstract: A controller for a valve assembly that is configured to meet requirements for use in hazardous areas. These configurations may regulate flow of instrument air to a pneumatic actuator to operate a valve. The controller may comprise enclosures, including a first enclosure and a second enclosure, each having a peripheral wall forming an interior space, and circuitry comprising a barrier circuit disposed in the interior space of one of the enclosures that power limits digital signals that exits that enclosure. In one example, the peripheral wall of enclosures are configured to allow instrument air into the interior space of the first enclosure but to prevent instrument air from the interior space of the second enclosure.

  • Patent number: 10268259
Abstract: A board-level assembly that is useful to expand functions of a valve positioner on a valve assembly. The board-level assembly can incorporate a main circuit board and a peripheral “smart” circuit board. The main circuit board may be configured to communicate with the smart circuit board, find a storage memory on the second circuit board, retrieve data from the storage memory, and use the data to configure functions on the first circuit board. In one implementation, the smart circuit board can release and engage the main circuit board. This configuration can allow different configurations of the smart circuit board to swap into the board-level assembly, each of the different configurations providing data the main circuit board can exploit to change the functions of the valve positioner.

  • Patent number: 10235748
Abstract: A system and method for conveying an identity of a valve assembly found on a process line. The method can configure the system for receiving a first image of a subject valve assembly at a first computing device. The method can also configure the system for using the first image, selecting an entry in an asset database, the entry associating valve identifying data that relates to the subject valve assembly with a second image of the subject valve assembly that is stored in the asset database, the valve identifying data configured to define an identity for the subject valve assembly. The method can further configure the system for retrieving data from the selected entry and for generating an output for display on a second computing device, wherein the output is configured to convey the valve identifying data that relates to the subject valve assembly in the first image.
