  • Publication number: 20240139002
Abstract: An implant in accordance with an embodiment of the present technology includes proximal and distal end portions spaced apart from one another along a longitudinal axis and configured to be deployed at first and second airways, respectively, of a bronchial tree, the second airway being of a greater generation than the first airway. The implant includes a wire extending along a wire path within a tubular region coaxially aligned with the longitudinal axis. The wire includes first and second legs alternatingly disposed along the wire path and extending distally and proximally, respectively, in a circumferential direction about the longitudinal axis. The implant is configured to transition from a low-profile delivery state to an expanded deployed state at a treatment location and to allow mucociliary clearance from immediately distal to the implant to immediately proximal to the implant while the in deployed at the treatment location.

  • Publication number: 20230381378
Abstract: The present invention relates to the prevention and treatment of implant associated complications; e.g. foreign body response (FBR). High mechanical stress at the implant-tissue interface activates a sustained inflammatory response, which is primarily responsible for implant associated complications and implant failure. In particular, described herein are apparatuses, devices, and compositions containing inhibitors of mechanotransduction, and methods of making and using such apparatuses, devices and compositions. These apparatuses, devices, compositions, and methods are useful for preventing or reducing unwanted fibrosis, inflammation or cancer that result from implantation of a biomedical implant in an individual. One aspect of the invention provides a biomedical device including an effective amount of a composition containing a mechanotransduction inhibitor for preventing, inhibiting or treating implant associated complications.

  • Patent number: 11013437
Abstract: An electrode structure, which can be used as a biosensor, is provided that has non-random topography located on one surface of an electrode base substrate. The non-random topography of the electrode structure and the electrode base substrate of the electrode structure are of unitary construction and unitary composition and thus there is no interface is located between these elements of the electrode structure.
