  • Patent number: 5950147
Abstract: An apparatus for predicting a fault condition for a machine is disclosed. The machine has a plurality of parameters being dependent upon machine performance. A sensor connected to the machine produces an electrical signal in response to one of the plurality of machine parameters. A computer produces a data trend of the parameter in response to the electrical signal, calculates the duration and slope of the trend, and predicts the time period in which the trend will exceed the warning level.

  • Patent number: 5931875
Abstract: The invention is a system and method for managing a resource having a stop point. Each of at least one mobile machine includes a queue manager adapted to generate a queue position request as the mobile machine approaches the resource. A resource manager is adapted to establish a queue to control access to the resource. After receiving the queue position request from the approaching mobile machine, the resource manager generates a queue position and sends it to the mobile machine. The resource manager then determines the next stop point to be accessed. When the resource is available to receive another mobile machine, the resource manger directs the first mobile machine in the selected queue to proceed to access the stop point.

  • Patent number: 5914890
Abstract: A method for monitoring the condition of oil in an engine is disclosed which includes the steps of determining a plurality of parameters, determining a fuel injection model, determining the area of the cylinder walls that is coated with soot, and responsively determining a soot model. The method may include the additional steps of calculating a value of residual soot, and calculating a value of soot dispersed by dispersants. The accumulation of soot determined from the model may be trended over time to predict the useful life of the oil.

  • Patent number: 5752207
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically determining and modeling a path between a route and a final position is provided. An initial position on the route and a set of path equations between the initial position and the final position are determined. A set of path data points is computed using the set of path equations and the path as defined by the path data points is modeled. The curvature of the path at each point is determined using the model and validated against a reference curvature.

  • Patent number: 5737215
Abstract: An apparatus for comparing one machine in a fleet of machines is provided. The apparatus senses a plurality of characteristics of each machine in the fleet and responsively determines a set of fleet data. The apparatus further determines a set of reference machine data as a function of the fleet data, compares the data for the machine with the reference machine data, and responsively produces a deviation signal.
