  • Patent number: 11705090
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods for providing a rearward view of an aircraft. The system, apparatus, and methods include one or more cameras disposed on an aft portion of a fuselage of the aircraft, a heads-up display is within a cockpit of the aircraft, and a heads-up control. The heads-up control receives image data from the one or more cameras and generates an image on the heads-up display based on the image data from the one or more cameras to provide a rearward view of an area behind the aircraft. The heads-up control may be configured to determine when an aerial object is within a predetermined range behind the aircraft and responsively generate the image on the heads-up display based on the image data from the one or more cameras to provide a rearward view of an area behind the aircraft in which the aerial object is located.

  • Patent number: 11628765
Abstract: A system for illuminating at least a portion of an object within an enclosed space includes an object configured to be moved within the enclosed space, and a beacon coupled to the object. The beacon is configured to emit a light tracking signal. A light sensor is configured to detect the light tracking signal emitted from the beacon. A lighting control unit in communication with the light sensor is configured to determine a position of the object within the enclosed space based on the light tracking signal as detected by the light sensor. A lighting assembly is in communication with the lighting control unit. The lighting control unit is configured to operate the lighting assembly to emit the illuminating light onto the at least a portion of the object based on the light tracking signal as detected by the light sensor. The system may also be configured to guide a passenger to a seat, and provide way-finding illumination.

  • Patent number: 11556019
Abstract: Provided is a selectively filtered vision protection system for defense against aircraft laser threats. The system comprises a viewing device having a frame supporting a transparent viewing surface. The frame is configured to be positioned on the face of a user such that the user may see through the viewing surface. A selective filter is positioned adjacent to the viewing surface such that the angle of the field of view of the user is regulated in at least one orthogonal plane. The viewing angle is selected to prevent light transmitted from a light source, located outside of the viewing angle, from being viewed by the user. The selective filter is configured to operate in a first mode for transmitting light unrestricted through the viewing surface, and a second mode to regulate the angle of the field of view of the user in at least one orthogonal plane.

  • Publication number: 20220211889
Abstract: A device including an outer shell having a first longitudinal axis and a first arcuate shape. The outer shell is opaque to ultraviolet light and to visible light. The device also includes an inner shell having a second longitudinal axis. The inner shell is connected longitudinally to the outer shell along a first longitudinal length and a second longitudinal length. The inner shell has a second arcuate shape different than the first arcuate shape. A chamber is disposed between the outer shell and the inner shell. The chamber is defined by a difference between the first arcuate shape and the second arcuate shape. The device also includes an ultraviolet light source disposed along the second longitudinal axis.

  • Publication number: 20200231283
Abstract: An aircraft includes a fuselage and a cabin area with a plurality of windows. The aircraft includes a plurality of projectors positioned within the cabin area that are oriented toward corresponding windows. The projectors project an image over the glass portion of the corresponding window and surrounding surfaces. The image includes a dark center region that is aligned with the glass portion of the corresponding window, reducing undesired effect on passengers. The dark center region may reduce a reflective glare from the glass portion of the corresponding window. The image may include an outer region around the dark center region, which may be brighter than the dark center region. The outer region may illuminate a window bezel and/or a portion of a cabin sidewall.
