  • Publication number: 20120052853
Abstract: A method of paging to increase standby time of Wireless Terminals used for non-real-time communications via cellular network is disclosed. The method comprises synchronizing a wireless terminal clock to a server internal clock and deriving a paging window and a dormant window for communicating between the server and the wireless terminal using the synchronized time. The method further comprises during the paging window: finding a control channel for a cellular network by the wireless terminal; sending the page from the server to the wireless terminal; and receiving the page from the server at the wireless terminal.

  • Patent number: 8073470
Abstract: Improved paging for wireless networks is disclosed. A wireless terminal clock is synchronized to a server clock. A paging window and a dormant window are set for communicating between the server and the wireless terminal using the synchronized time. The paging window and the dormant window are set using a set of instructions. • Publication number: 20110287722
Abstract: A method of authenticating a user seeking access to an unlicensed wireless communication system includes delivering to an unlicensed wireless communication subscriber device licensed wireless communication system security information. An authentication result produced by the subscriber device is processed in response to the licensed wireless communication system security information. The authentication result is compared with an authentication value to selectively produce an authentication command. Unlicensed wireless communication between the subscriber device and an unlicensed wireless communication system base station is enabled in response to the authentication command.

  • Patent number: 8054165
Abstract: A method is presented that establishes, at a telecommunication device that is at a particular service region of a first communication network, a Transmission Control Protocol over Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) connection between the telecommunication device and a network controller that communicatively couples several service regions of the first communication network to a licensed wireless second communication network. The method receives a channel activation message from the network controller over the TCP/IP connection. The channel activation message initiates the telecommunication device to activate a channel for a communication session. The method sends communication session data through an activated channel to the network controller for routing to the licensed wireless second communication network. The method receives a release message from the network controller over the TCP/IP connection.

  • Patent number: 8010106
Abstract: Camping on a cell of a wireless network is disclosed. One or more available cells are determined for a wireless device. One or more available networks are determined based at least in part on the one or more available cells. A network is selected based at least in part on one or more network selection criteria. A cell of the selected network is selected. The selected cell is camped on, wherein camping enables receiving control channel information from the cell of the selected network. In the event that a registration condition is satisfied, the wireless device is registered on the selected network using control channel information.

  • Patent number: 7890099
Abstract: A method of integrating a licensed wireless system and an unlicensed wireless system includes establishing a communication session through a landline. The communication session is linked to a subscriber device through an unlicensed wireless system servicing an unlicensed wireless system service area. An indication is received that the subscriber device is moving from the unlicensed wireless system service area into a licensed wireless system service area. Without disrupting the communication session, the communication session is automatically transitioned from the unlicensed wireless system to a licensed wireless system servicing the licensed wireless system service area. Similarly, a call initiated on the licensed wireless system is automatically transitioned to the unlicensed wireless system when the subscriber device enters the unlicensed wireless system service area.
