The apparatus also includes an access information collector for collecting information for WLAN APs being accessible at a current position of the apparatus, and an access information analyzer for analyzing the collected information, and creating a list of the accessible WLAN APs. The apparatus further includes a comparator for comparing the list with the WLAN access information to determine if the WLAN APs match. The apparatus additionally includes an access information automatic changer for automatically changing current WLAN access information according to matched APs.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for scanning Radio Access Technology (RAT) of a User Equipment (UE) registered in a first cell in a cellular communication network is provided. The method includes performing a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) procedure for establishing a call, disabling, if the NAS procedure fails, capability of the UE to connect to the first cell, checking information relating to neighboring cells in the network, and selecting at least one RAT included in the information relating to the neighboring cells, and scanning a second cell operating in the at least one RAT based on the information relating to the neighboring cells.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses (including, but not limited to, User Equipment (UE) and Base Stations) for a UE to control a packet header compression function in a communication system are described. In one method, if a predetermined condition is satisfied while the packet header compression function is enabled, the UE transmits a request for disabling the packet header compression function to a Base Station (BS), and, if a response is received from the BS, the UE disables the packet header compression function.

One method for improving registration for VoLTE devices in LTE networks includes the steps of transmitting, by a user equipment (UE), a first Packet Data Network (PDN) connectivity request to a first PDN Gateway (PGW) for establishing a connectivity with a first PDN; verifying, by a Mobility Management Entity (MME), if the first PDN connectivity request is accepted by the first PGW; creating, by the UE, a second PDN connectivity request to a second PGW for establishing a connectivity with a second PDN if the first PGW rejects the first PDN connectivity request; and establishing connectivity with the second PDN for enabling VoLTE Services if the second PGW accepts the second PDN connectivity request.

Particularly, in a case where the removable external modem, which has no information for accessing a specific network, e.g. operator Lock, a roaming list, a credential, operator ID, etc., when it is introduced, receives network access information through initial access, registration, and provisioning step, and is connected to other device to be used, the modem can be directly connected to a network of an existing registered network communication provider without a separate supplementary registration or a provisioning step.

Abstract: In a communication system, UE (User Equipment) concurrently provides a plurality of services based on priority. Currently available resources of the UE are confirmed when the UE is required to provide a service that is different from a plurality of services that are currently being provided. Connection of corresponding services are cancelled iteratively, starting from a service with the lowest user preference, until the currently available resources become sufficient to provide the required service if the currently available resources are not sufficient to provide the required service. The priority can be based on user preferences that are managed for a plurality of services that can be provided in the UE.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for setting a Quality of Service (QoS) level by a Portable Subscriber Station (PSS) in a mobile internet system are provided. The method includes determining a QoS request level serving as a QoS level required for transmitting a real-time packet if a packet to be transmitted is a real-time packet, transmitting the determined QoS request level to a Radio Access Station (RAS), receiving the QoS level determined corresponding to the QoS request level from the RAS and setting the QoS level to correspond to the received QoS level.

Abstract: Provided is a method for setting up a route path between source and destination nodes in a mobile ad hoc network. The source node transmits a RREQ message to the destination node, which transmits a RREP message to the source node. A first intermediate node having failed to transmit the original RREP stores the original RREP, and generates and transmits a PRREQ message, to neighbor intermediate nodes. If an ID of the PRREQ and an original IP address included in the received PRREQ are identical to those of the RREQ received from the source node, a second intermediate node receiving the PRREQ generates and transmits a PRREP message corresponding to the PRREQ to the first intermediate node. If a partial route path is set up between the first and second intermediate nodes, the first intermediate node transmits the original RREP to the source node, which completes setup of the route path.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for transmitting a signal in a communication system. Upon transition to a power saving mode, a lower layer unit sends a notification indicating the transition to the power saving mode to an upper layer unit. Upon receipt of the notification indicating the transition, the upper layer unit activates a traffic filter having a filtering condition. If upper layer traffic is generated after activating the traffic filter, the upper layer unit filters the upper layer traffic using the traffic filter, and processes the upper layer traffic according to the filtering result.

Abstract: In a communication system, a terminal receives user information while an initial network entry operation is performed. The terminal transfers the received user information to an authentication server and receives an authentication information mapped to the user information required for the authentication from the authentication server. The terminal performs authentication with the authentication server using the received authentication information. Therefore, the terminal and the authentication server can securely share the authentication information, and the authentication server can easily change and manage the authentication information.
