  • Patent number: 6929292
Abstract: A lever lock system has a lever handle with a shaft and arm and a securing mechanism. The shaft passes through an aperture in a mounting plate coupled to a door. A support member has a closed rear face, an open front face and an internal region with a hollow cylinder with a hollow center extending to a central bore in the closed rear face of the support member. The central bore has a retaining lip adjacent to the open front face. The rear face is adapted to couple with the mounting plate. A push button has an open back face, closed front plate and a hollow shaft adapted to telescope over the support member with the hollow shaft adapted to telescope over the hollow cylinder. A screw couples the support member within the push button. A spring is retained over the hollow shaft of the push button.

  • Patent number: 6581991
Abstract: A door latch actuator and methodology actuates a mortise-type dead latch that has a spring latch to reciprocally engage and disengage the door latch actuator, and a dead latch pin to operate movement of the spring latch. The actuator's housing has a cavity to receive the spring latch and dead latch pin when the door is fastened, and a reciprocally movable spring latch plunger and dead latch plunger mounted therein. The spring latch plunger's head portion selectively engages the spring latch at different locations when the door is fastened. A striker assembly has arrangeable strike elements defining a strike surface for the dead latch pin and portals for the spring latch for different spring latch and dead latch pin arrangements. The actuator also includes a drive to reciprocally drive the dead latch plunger and advance the spring latch plunger.

  • Patent number: 5820290
Abstract: A door handle/knob assembly a door handle/knob assembly includes a housing having an opening formed within the housing, and a shaft received within the opening of the housing. The shaft has an outer surface, a rib for axially retaining the shaft to a lip of the housing in one direction, and a pair of generally oppositely positioned recess formations formed in the outer surface of the shaft. The recess formations are generally adjacent the intersection of the housing and the shaft. A door handle is secured to the shaft, the door handle having a handle member that tapers to a reduced neck portion. The reduced neck portion is fixedly secured to the shaft and has an end which is positioned adjacent the recess formations on a side opposite the housing so as to define a space between the end of the reduced neck portion and the housing. The recessed formations of the shaft are exposed within the space.

  • Patent number: 5395144
Abstract: A door latch for passage and privacy applications provides capability for non-handed installation as well as independent bolt operating cams which may be selectively locked or may be unlocked by retraction of the bolt or by pushing the bolt inward when the door is closed. The latch also provides for removal of the bolt from the latch assembly when the faceplate is not attached. Dual backset capability is provided by means of telescopic forward housings and bolt-to-drawbar assemblies which may be placed in two indexable positions to adjust the length.

  • Patent number: 5308131
Abstract: A door latch has a housing for installation in a prepared cavity at a door edge and has interchangeable faceplates for finishing the door edge. The interchangeable faceplates each have an opening for permitting extension and retraction of a latch bolt, have a peripheral shape required for compatibility with the prepared cavity, and have features providing for releasably securing the faceplates to the housing and to the door edge. This permits installation of door latches regardless of the door preparation by merely interchanging the faceplates to match the door preparation.

  • Patent number: 5152558
Abstract: A lockset is adaptable for installation at more than one backset distance including a bolt assembly which has a latch member and a separable drawbar located within a housing assembly, a portion of which is also made up of two relatively movable portions. Operation of the lock is standard in so far as extending and retracting the bolt is concerned, while adjustment of the backset distance is accomplished by simultaneously adjusting the lengths of the bolt assembly and the housing assembly. Visual indication of backset distance is provided as is adaptability without the use of tools. Bolt throw disablement is provided when the lockset is in the transfer position for changing backset.
