  • Patent number: 9729669
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method and related network node including one or more of the following: receiving, at the first network device, a message to be forwarded; determining a destination address for the message; determining whether the destination address is assigned to the first network device; if the destination address is not assigned to the first network device, querying a second network device for a next hop of the destination address; receiving, in response to the query, an indication of the next hop for the destination address; and forwarding, by the first network device in response to the indication of the next hop, the message to the next hop.

  • Publication number: 20140036918
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method and related network node including one or more of the following: receiving, at a first input line card of the network device, a message, the message including a destination address; transmitting the message, by the first input line card, to the second input line card based on the determination that the second input line card is configured with routing information related to the destination address; determining, by the second input line card and based on the routing information related to the destination address, that the message should be forwarded via a first output line card of the network device to another network device; transmitting the message, by the second input line card, to the first output line card based on the determination that the message should be forwarded; and transmitting the message, by the first output line card, to another network device.

  • Publication number: 20070256113
Abstract: A user's favorite sources of content are monitored and when such a source generates a content stream of interest, it may be forwarded to the user. If the forwarding of the stream is interrupted, content transmitted during the period of the interruption will not be lost because it can be subsequently accessed by the user at a location, for example, last accessed by the user before the interruption occurred.

  • Publication number: 20060268857
Abstract: A method and apparatus for encoding a SIP message into an internal binary format so that it can be treated much more efficiently by both the SIP stack layers and the application. Only one memory buffer is used to handle any sort of SIP message. For this reason, this new SIP message may be called a “mono-block” structure. It allows each SIP header's raw text from the original SIP message to be directly referred within the SIP mono-block with no additional copy. Only SIP headers that are “used” by the application, or by some SIP stack layer are parsed to form a “decoded” header object. The header parsing is made “on demand” at the moment header is accessed. Headers not used are not decoded and are left in text format with no additional processing needed.

  • Publication number: 20060198309
Abstract: The present invention provides a resource-sensitive parser for use with a session initiation protocol (SIP) network. In one embodiment, the resource-sensitive parser includes a resource condition indicator configured to provide an overload indication for a network element in the SIP network. Additionally, the resource-sensitive parser also includes a parsing engine coupled to the resource condition indicator and configured to parse a SIP request employing an overload protection mode corresponding to the overload indication for the network element.

  • Publication number: 20060187901
Abstract: The present invention provides a concurrent dual-state proxy server for use with a session initiation protocol (SIP) network. In one embodiment, the concurrent dual-state proxy server includes a request receiver configured to receive a SIP request. Additionally, the concurrent dual-state proxy server also includes a state-determination controller coupled to the request receiver and configured to process the SIP request employing a transaction mode that corresponds to a condition of the SIP network.
