Abstract: In some aspects, a method, system, and non-transitory computer-readable storage medium are described for predicting relevant biomarkers and patient response to immunotherapy treatment for one or more cancer types, including: using a first statistical model to determine cell-type and/or tissue-type characteristics associated with a pathology image of a patient; determining a plurality of human interpretable image features based on the cell-type and/or the tissue-type characteristics associated with the pathology image; using a second statistical model to classify the patient into one or more subpopulations of a plurality of subpopulations associated with a solid tumor based on the plurality of human interpretable image features; and predicting patient response to immunotherapy treatment based on the classification of the subpopulations.
