Abstract: An adapter for clinical, medical and laboratory equipment containers comprises: (a) a cylindrical substrate wherein the substrate comprises a plurality of ribs that extend outwardly from the substrate to orient and hold the adapter in an opening of the container and (b) an elastomeric insert that is formed or inserted into an opening in the substrate wherein the elastomeric insert comprises: (i) a transfer instrument passageway that allows a tip of a transfer implement to pass through the elastomeric insert and allow a liquid contained in the container to be drawn into the transfer implement and (ii) an air passage structure to allow air to be drawn into the container when the liquid is being drawn into the transfer implement.

Abstract: A container lid assembly configured to be used with and seal a container body is provided. The container lid assembly includes a container lid including a plug member extending downwardly and a gasket-retaining portion adjacent to and at least partially surrounding the plug member, where an outer surface of the plug member defines at least part of the gasket-retaining portion. The container lid assembly further includes a sealing gasket retained on the gasket-retaining portion and configured to provide a seal between the outer surface of the plug member and an interior wall of the container body, where the sealing gasket includes a pull tab that (i) extends away from a sealing portion of the sealing gasket; and (ii) extends downward away from the gasket-retaining portion of the container lid.

Abstract: A medical valve transitions between an open mode that permits fluid flow, and a closed mode that prevents fluid flow. To that end, the valve has a housing with an inlet and an outlet, a post member moveably mounted within the housing and a distal seal member. The post member moves distally within the housing to fluidly connect the inlet and outlet upon insertion of a medical implement into the inlet. The post member also moves proximally within the housing to fluidly disconnect the inlet and outlet upon withdrawal of the medical implement. The distal seal member has a tapered wall region that surrounds a normally closed aperture. The distal movement of the post member opens the aperture and inverts the tapered wall region.

Abstract: A medical valve transitions between an open mode that permits fluid flow, and a closed mode that prevents fluid flow. The valve has a housing, a valve member with a distal seal having a normally closed aperture, a first variable volume region and a second variable volume region longitudinally spaced from the first. Insertion of a medical implement into the inlet opens the aperture and fluidly connects the valve inlet and outlet via a fluid path. Withdrawal of the implement closes the aperture and fluidly disconnects the inlet and outlet. The first variable volume region contracts and the second variable volume expands upon withdrawal of the implement. Both variable volumes may be part of the fluid path. The fluid path may have a closed volume before insertion of the implement and an open volume when in an open mode. The closed volume may be substantially equal to the open mode.
