Messages from the vehicle system indicate a location of the vehicle and are used by the parking assistant device to track a movement of the vehicle. The parking area information is sent in one or more responses messages from the parking assistant device and can include a rule for determining whether the vehicle is permitted to park in an unoccupied parking zone within the parking area or indicate a result of applying the rule.
