  • Patent number: 9295806
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining pre-cognitive and/or cognitive emotional response to predetermined olfactory stimuli. Among other things, the invention may include exposing a test subject to a controlled flow of a predetermined olfactory stimulus, measuring eye data (e.g., using an eye tracking device) corresponding to when the olfactory stimulus reached the subject's nose, and analyzing and processing the eye data for determining the subject's emotional response to the olfactory stimulus. In some implementations, the invention may include measuring the test subject's respiratory parameters so as to deliver the predetermined olfactory stimulus at a certain point in the test subjects respiratory cycle.

  • Patent number: 8986218
Abstract: A system and method is provided for calibrating and normalizing eye data of one or more subjects prior to and/or during emotional testing of the subjects. In particular, initially performing one or more calibration or normalization operations prior to an emotional test of a subject may result in accurate evaluations of emotional responses based on measurements of eye data. Additionally, further calibration or normalization performed during the emotional test may be used to refine the initial calibration or normalization, further increasing the accuracy of the evaluated emotional responses.

  • Patent number: 8814357
Abstract: A reading meter system and method is provided for identifying the existence and position of text in visual media content (e.g., a document to be displayed (or being displayed) on a computer monitor or other display device) and determining if a subject has interacted with the text and/or the level of the subject's interaction with the text (e.g., whether the subject looked at the text, whether the subject read the text, whether the subject comprehended the text, whether the subject perceived and made sense of the text, and/or other levels of the subject's interaction with the text). The determination may, for example, be based on data generated from an eye tracking device. The reading meter system may be used alone and/or in connection with an emotional response tool (e.g., a software-based tool for determining the subject's emotional response to the text and/or other elements of the visual media content on which the text appears).

  • Publication number: 20100010317
Abstract: A system and method is provided for providing self-contained data collection systems for emotional response testing of one or more subjects based, for example, on eye properties of the subjects. More particularly, market research may be conducted through testing emotional responses of one or more subjects at one or more self-contained data collection systems. The emotional responses of the subjects may be tested based on eye properties that may be indicative of subconscious physiological reactions that evidence a given emotional response (e.g., blink rate, eye movement, pupil dilation, etc.). Administering tests at the self-contained data collection systems may include presenting one or more tests stimuli to the subjects (e.g., visual stimuli, auditory stimuli, etc.

  • Publication number: 20070265507
Abstract: The invention is a system and method for determining visual attention, and supports the eye tracking measurements with other physiological signal measurements like emotions. The system and method of the invention is capable of registering stimulus related emotions from eye-tracking data. An eye tracking device of the system and other sensors collect eye properties and/or other physiological properties which allows a subject's emotional and visual attention to be observed and analyzed in relation to stimuli.
