  • Patent number: 6185909
Abstract: A method for packaging a web roll, where a packaging sheet is wrapped in a helical line around the web roll, in order to create a body packaging, and where the packaging sheet is wrapped in the circumferential direction around the web roll at the beginning and/or end of the web roll, to form a substantially uniformly shaped axial projection during creation of end packaging.

  • Patent number: 5983606
Abstract: A device and method for packaging a web roll with a packaging sheet dispenser that dispenses a packaging sheet at an adjustable angle relative to the radial direction of the web roll, that can be moved parallel to the axial direction of the web roll, and on which a supply roll of the packaging sheet is provided, along with a motor-drive for the web roll to be packaged.

  • Patent number: 5974768
Abstract: Device and method for packaging a material web roll, having a longitudinal axis, with a packaging sheet. The device includes a packaging sheet dispenser that dispenses the packaging sheet such that a lateral width of the packaging sheet forms an acute angle to the longitudinal axis. The device also includes a glue application station having a first glue application device composed of an operational gluing device and a second glue application device composed as an end gluing device. The method includes feeding the packaging sheet through a gluing station, applying at least one glue bead parallel to an edge of the packaging sheet, spraying glue onto at least a portion of the packaging sheet, and guiding the packaging sheet onto an outer surface of the material web roll.

  • Patent number: 5943843
Abstract: A device and method for packaging a web roll, having a longitudinal axis, with a packaging sheet. The device includes a packaging sheet dispenser which dispenses the packaging sheet to produce a body packaging by dispensing, on at least a portion of a longitudinal extent of the web roll, the packaging sheet. The packaging sheet dispenser is positioned to dispense the packaging sheet to form an acute angle between the lateral direction of the packaging sheet and the longitudinal axis. The packaging sheet dispenser is further arranged to dispense the packaging sheet to produce an end packaging having an axial projection on an end of the web roll. The packaging sheet dispenser is posited so that the lateral direction of the packaging sheet is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. During the production of the body packaging, the web roll migrates, which leads to problems in the subsequent placement of the face cover by the packing presses.

  • Patent number: 5768858
Abstract: An apparatus and method for packaging a roll of web material with a packaging material includes a wrapping station that has a roller drive. A packaging strip dispenser has a packaging material delivery device. A position of the packaging strip delivery device is adjustable so that an acute angle is defined between a longitudinal axis of the packaging material being dispensed by the packaging material delivery device and a circumferential direction of the roll of web material. The circumferential direction is a direction that is tangent to a circumferential surface of the roll and is parallel to an axial end of the roll. The packaging material is axially movable with respect to the roll of web material. A first strip of the packaging material is placed against the roll so that a longitudinal axis of the first strip of packaging material is disposed at an acute angle with respect to the circumferential direction of the roll of web material.

  • Patent number: 5310058
Abstract: A circular cover of corrugated cardboard for application to one end face of a roll of convoluted sheet material has two mirror symmetrical tongues which can be pivoted along parallel bending scores out of the plane of the cover for introduction into one end portion of a tubular core within a roll by an apparatus having a depository for covers and a device which transfers covers from the depository to the end faces of rolls. The depository centers and turns the covers so that each cover is properly oriented relative to the transporting device. The latter has two pivotable pushers which can pivot the tongues of a properly centered and oriented cover and thereupon insert the pivoted tongues into one end portion of a core.

  • Patent number: 5024718
Abstract: Apparatus for applying labels to the peripheral surfaces or to the end faces of bulky cylindrical objects has a carrier which is transportable up and down as well as toward and away from the labelling station. The carrier supports a suction head which is pivotable about a horizontal axis extending transversely of the direction of movement of the carrier toward and away from the labelling station, and a roll which is rotatable about its own axis as well as pivotable about an axis which is parallel to its own axis and to the pivot axis for the suction head.

  • Patent number: 4958478
Abstract: Apparatus for applying disc-shaped end walls to the end faces of rolls of convoluted paper in a positioning unit wherein the rolls are maintained in horizontal positions has a magazine with two rows of floor-mounted pallets for stacks of superimposed end walls having different diameters. A conveyor which is mounted for travel between the two rows of pallets has lifters which can simultaneously pick up end walls from selected pairs of transversely aligned stacks and delivers the thus lifted end walls to an orientation changing unit which moves the end walls from horizontal into vertical planes and centers the end walls prior to applying them to the respective end faces of the roll in the positioning unit.
