  • Patent number: 10631601
Abstract: A delta-shaped umbrella apparatus for shading or shielding a user from the rain includes a hub configured for receiving a handle. The hub has a plurality of spring receptacles, and a plurality of springs, with each spring having a coiled portion, a lower anchoring portion, and an upper anchoring portion. Each spring receptacle has a spring chamber configured to hold the coiled portion, at least one anchoring hole configured for the lower anchoring portion to be inserted therethrough, and a slot. A plurality of ribs are anchored to the plurality of springs' upper anchoring portions, and each slot is configured to allow the a rib to swing through a predetermined range of motion relative to the hub. The range of motion defines an arc extending from a position substantially parallel to the handle to a position substantially perpendicular to the handle.

  • Patent number: 10184265
Abstract: An automatically deploying shielding apparatus, or sun shade, includes a handle and a shade portion connected by a hub. The handle extends into the hub, with the shade portion having a flexible shade joined to a first support member and a second support member. The first support member and the second support member extend into the hub, and an elastic member extends from the first support member to the second support member. The elastic member is arranged to extend through the hub and the first support member and the second support member are coupled to the hub portion with the elastic member holding the first support member and the second support member under tension at a position substantially perpendicular to the handle. A rescue cord and notch may be provided as an alternative to the elastic member, or in the event of malfunction of the elastic member, for manual operation.

  • Patent number: 9874038
Abstract: An automatically opening sunshade for shading a person includes a flexible connector made of a resilient deformable material. A central hub has a post anchor, a first arm anchor and a second arm anchor extending therefrom, with a post cut-out between the post anchor and the central hub, a first arm cut-out and a second arm cut-out between the first arm and the central hub, and the second arm and the central hub, respectively. A post extends from the post anchor, a first arm extends from the first arm anchor and a second arm extends from the second arm anchor, with a shade panel held by the first arm and the second arm. The flexible connector is molded such that the first arm, second arm, and shade panel, are held substantially horizontal under their own weight and the post is substantially vertical.
