  • Publication number: 20230193235
Abstract: The modified polypeptides include at least one amino acid substitution that allows the polypeptide to bind better to the S surface glycoprotein of coronaviruses that use ACE2 as a cell entry receptor, either through direct increases in affinity or through improved folding and expression of ACE2. Use of the modified ACE2 polypeptides for inhibiting CoV entry, replication and/or spread, for pre-exposure and post-exposure CoV prophylaxis, and for treating a CoV infection (e.g. COVTD-19), is also described.

  • Publication number: 20160168538
Abstract: This invention provides endothelial cells expressing transcription factor Er71/Etv2, and cell surface endothelial markers Flk1 and VE-cadherin prepared from induced pluripotent stem cells or embryonic stem cells, as well as methods of preparing the cells and methods of using the cells to vascularize and re-endothelialize or repair ischemic tissue in a subject.

  • Publication number: 20130295551
Abstract: A microfluidic device having a perfusion chamber, the perfusion chamber having a base, a bath opening in the base, a supply inlet and an exhaust outlet. The device further includes a gas permeable membrane attached beneath the perfusion chamber, the gas permeable membrane having a first opening in registration with the supply inlet and a second opening in registration with the exhaust outlet. A substrate is attached to the gas permeable membrane, the substrate having at least one microchannel arranged for flow communication with the supply inlet and the exhaust outlet. In addition, a slide is attached to the substrate. As such, gas introduced through the supply inlet is communicated to the microchannel via the first opening, and the gas permeable membrane is positioned to be exposed to the gas to communicate the gas to the bath opening.

  • Publication number: 20120269775
Abstract: Methods are provided for promoting angiogenesis in a mammal, such methods including the administration of therapeutic quantity of adipose-derived stromal cells to a mammal such that therapeutic angiogenesis occurs.

  • Publication number: 20120129253
Abstract: Adipose tissue-derived stromal cells and methods of isolating and using the same. In at least one embodiment of isolated adipose tissue-derived stromal cells of the present disclosure, the cells are isolated by performing adipose tissue resection or suction on a mammalian patient, dissecting tissue obtained from said tissue resection or suction and dissociating said tissue into a cell suspension, removing adipocytes from the cell suspension, culturing the adipocyte-depleted cell suspension in EGM-2-MV media, and isolating adipose tissue-derived stromal cells secreting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), and granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF).

  • Patent number: 8067234
Abstract: Methods are provided for isolating adipose derived stromal cells from an animal by extracting adipose tissue from the patient, dissecting the tissue, dissociating the tissue into a cell suspension, removing the adipocytes, exposing the cell suspension to red cell lysis buffer, and isolating adipose derived stromal cells.
