  • Publication number: 20090092002
Abstract: A method for wireless communication in a seismic sensor network is disclosed. The method comprises providing a first acoustic device having at least one seismic sensor with communication and control data to communicate over an acoustic energy wave on a first communications channel. The first acoustic device generates the acoustic energy wave with a first wave intensity. The first acoustic device is configured to receive a reflection of the generated wave at a prescribed signal sensitivity level based on a network configuration. If the first wave intensity is below the prescribed signal sensitivity level, the first wave intensity of the acoustic energy wave is tuned to the prescribed signal sensitivity level to interpret the communication and control data provided by the first communications channel.

  • Patent number: 7317537
Abstract: A system and method for recovering lost data in an electronic gyroscope sensor system are disclosed, which use a linear adaptive predictive technique for determining what data was lost by the gyroscope sensor system during a disruptive interval involved. More precisely, a system and method for recovering lost data in a fiber optic gyroscope sensor system are disclosed, which continuously predicts “N” future samples of sensor data and stores the last known good “L” sensor values and the calculated “L” coefficients in a non-volatile memory. In the event that the fiber optic gyroscope sensor system becomes inoperable (e.g., due to a temporary loss of power to the gyroscope or other cause of electromechanical failure), and once the gyroscope sensor system resumes operation (e.g., power is reapplied), the stored “L” coefficients are retrieved from the non-volatile memory, and are used to calculate the data lost by the fiber optic gyroscope sensor system during the inoperative period involved.

  • Publication number: 20070160286
Abstract: A method of dynamically adjusting and predicting a segmentation threshold is provided. The method comprises calculating a threshold factor, calculating an actual average image pixel intensity for an entire image frame, and predicting a future average image pixel intensity for future time t, wherein the predicted future average image pixel intensity is based on past actual average image pixel intensities. • Patent number: 7173944
Abstract: A digital subscriber line (DSL) communication system that utilizes the high frequency band of a standard telephone line does not require the use of a plain old telephone service (POTS) splitter in the resident's home, which provided isolation between the POTS frequency band (0 to 4 kHz) and the DSL frequency band. A digital subscriber line modem utilizes either constant envelope modulation or quadrature amplitude modulation for outputting DSL signals upstream to a central office. When a telephone in the resident's home is detected as being off-hook, then the constant envelope modulation is used by the DSL modem in order to lessen the intermodulation product distortion that results in audible noise heard by a user of the telephone. When the telephone is on-hook, then another type of modulation, such as QAM, is used to maximize the upstream data rate capability in the DSL frequency band, since any noise generated by the QAM is not a problem due to the non-use of the POTS frequency band.

  • Patent number: 6445733
Abstract: A digital subscriber line communication system does not require the use of a plain old telephone service (POTS) splitter in the resident's home. Digital signal processing techniques are utilized to adapt to varying subscriber line conditions due to POTS telephone equipment. The digital signal processing techniques eliminate the need for a splitter by reducing susceptibility to distortion due to varying subscriber line characteristics. The digital subscriber line modem characterizes the subscriber line under a variety of conditions when the modem is in a non-idle mode. The digital subscriber line modem includes a control circuit which performs rapid retrain operation utilizing line characterization information.
