Abstract: Stationary wireless network stations are woken up using Wake-on-WLAN functionality. Wake-on-WLAN is provided by paging stations in a wireless network. Paging may support mobile stations across multiple access points. Paging may also support stationary nodes with reduced overhead. Wake-on-WLAN is also provided to stationary stations in idle mode by signifying a wake-on event in a traffic indication map (TIM). Wake-on events may occur when a station is associated or disassociated with an access point. Upon receiving a wake-on event, a station associates or reassociates with an AP if necessary.

Abstract: A foot protector and a knee protector for an animal are provided. The protectors both comprise a main portion. The foot protector features a single opening whereas the knee protector features two openings. The main portion is made from a thermoplastic material and an elastic element is further provided for the openings. Thus, the foot protector and the knee protector can be elastically fitted on a foot of the animal.

Abstract: A peptide-coated nanoparticle that includes a nanocrystal core surrounded by a graded shell that is composed of at least two different semiconductor molecules. At least one peptide is attached to the surface of the graded shell to render the nanoparticle biocompatible. The nanocrystal core and graded shell are optionally annealed with ultra violet radiation prior to and/or after attachment of the peptide(s).

Abstract: A decoding device includes a variable-length decoding circuit, a first buffer, a second buffer and a DC/AC prediction circuit is disclosed. The variable length decoding circuit decodes a first block and a second block from a compressed media stream. The first and second buffers are electrically coupled with the variable-length decoding circuit to store the first block and the second blocks, respectively. The DC/AC prediction circuit is electrically coupled with the first buffer and the second buffer. The DC/AC prediction circuit may read the first block from the first buffer when the second buffer is storing the second block.

Abstract: Nanocrystals that include a core/shell structure in which the a core of semiconductor material is coated with an inorganic capping agent. The nanocrystals are made by initially providing nanocrystal precursors that include a solubility agent which renders the precursors soluble in an organic solvent. The nanocrystal precursors are then coated with the inorganic capping agent in the presence of an organic solvent.

Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for communicating in a wireless network using multi-protocol label switching (MPLS). A network service node is configured to send identical packets substantially simultaneously to each of a serving network access station and one or more target network access stations via two or more respective MPLS tunnels in response to a handoff trigger message. Additional embodiments and variations are also disclosed.

Abstract: A decoding device includes a variable-length decoding circuit, a first buffer, a second buffer and a DC/AC prediction circuit is disclosed. The variable length decoding circuit decodes a first block and a second block from a compressed media stream. The first and second buffers are electrically coupled with the variable-length decoding circuit to store the first block and the second blocks, respectively. The DC/AC prediction circuit is electrically coupled with the first buffer and the second buffer. The DC/AC prediction circuit may read the first block from the first buffer when the second buffer is storing the second block.

Abstract: A collapsible handcart comprises a handle bar, a support carrier having a main carrier and two movable carriers, two sets of linkages and a trigger. The handle bar has an end thereof pivoted on the main carrier to be turned between an extended position, at which the handle bar is turned away from the main carrier, and a collapsed position, at which the handle bar is turned towards the main support carrier. The linkages are connected movable carriers with the main carrier such that the movable carriers can be driven to move between an extended position, at which the movable carriers are away from the main carrier, and a collapsed position, at which the movable carrier close to the main carrier. The trigger has an end thereof pivoted on the handle bar whereby turn the handle bar will drive the trigger to move.

Abstract: A multiplying apparatus and method based on Booth's algorithm are disclosed. According to a multiplier index, a one of several predetermined multiplier coefficient sets can be chosen. Each multiplier coefficient set contains several multiplier coefficients that are generated according to a predetermined multiplier value by Booth's algorithm. Then the multiplier coefficients can be used to generate the partial products according to a multiplicand by Booth's algorithm. By summing all of the partial products, an output value can be generated.

Abstract: A retractable handle assembly for a luggage, handcart and the like comprises a retractable tube having four tubes engaged with each other, three controllers received in the tubes and a tube plug having engagement portion provided at an end of the retractable tube. A handle has a grip portion, an axle portion and a handle plug having an engagement portion provided at an end of the axle portion. The handle is pivotally coupled with the retractable tube by a shaft. A lock device is movably mounted on the retractable handle assembly. The lock device is moved between a first position, in which the lock device is engaged with both of the engagement portions of the retractable tube and the handle, and a second position, in which the lock device only is engaged with one of the engagement portions of the retractable tube and the handle.

Abstract: A MAC (medium access control) architecture for wireless communications comprises a plurality of filter chains, wherein each filter chain comprises a number of filter drivers that are appropriate to the processing of a particular wireless medium. In one embodiment, a filter manager dynamically builds filter chains that correspond to prevailing wireless media. The filter manager is operable to dynamically insert filter drivers into, and remove filter drivers from respective filter chains, based on the properties of the filters required for processing a particular wireless medium.

Abstract: A lock device of a retractable handle has a base and a slide movably mounted on the base for movement between a first position and a second position. The slide has two lateral sides on each of which has a lowland portion, an upland portion and a guiding portion between the lowland portion and the upland portion. Two springs exert the slide moving to the first position. A first ball and a second ball are respectively against the lateral sides of the slide. The first ball is moved to the upland portion and the other ball is moved to the lowland portion while the slide is moved to the first position and the first ball is moved to the lowland portion and the second ball is moved to the upland portion while the slide is moved to the second position.

Abstract: A collapsible handcart. The handcart includes two wheel seats, a retractable handle, two wheels and a platform. The wheels are pivoted on the wheel seats respectively for free rotation and the retractable handle is mounted to the wheel seats. The platform is pivoted on the wheel seats for movement between an extended position, at which the platform is turned downwards, and at a collapsed position, the platform is turned upwards. The platform can be driven to turn to the collapsed position when the retractable handle is retracted and the platform also can be driven to turn to the extended position when the retractable handle is extended.

The monitoring system stores a copy of the dynamically generated web page and displays the copy of the web page to a web site representative on request. This permits the representative to make a more accurate analysis of a user's problem or question, thereby improving customer support.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a residential security system especially one of Web smart type mainly passing through the traditional PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network) for dual-direction information control and video signal transmission. Apart from connecting to PC (System PC with WEB Server) and DVR (Digital Video Recorder) at the rear-end, the invention is also designed with several WEB cameras at the front and an individual connecting Host. A Modem is designed in the telephone wire between the PC and Host for transmission of video-signal from each Host and passing through PSTN to return to PC for live surveillance recorded by a DVR. Hence, the present invention provides a very reliable tool for alarming the police and increasing live surveillance and joint systems can also be formed to increase safety and surveillance of high-residential areas, office buildings and other important locations.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a Web home security system especially one suitable for families and small enterprises using embedded IP (Internet Protocol) skill to form a solid and fireproof security system. The present invention mainly comprises a system PC with Web server, Internet, several wireless sensors, residential gateway, Web camera, PC and embedded IP skill, Web communicating interface RJ-45 and IEEE 802.11b WLAN port. Hence, the present invention provides a convenient way for distant surveillance and alarm of residential areas, smart-type office buildings and factories and, simultaneously, enjoys wireless on-line connection.
