  • Patent number: 11938067
Abstract: A patient containment system for securing a patient to a patient transport apparatus, comprising a first lower strap and a second lower strap. Each of the first lower strap and the second lower strap have a thigh region, a waist region, and a connection region arranged between the thigh region and the waist region. A first connector is coupled to the connection region of the first lower strap. A second connector is coupled to the connection region of the second lower strap, and is configured to releasably attach to the first connector to at least partially limit movement of the first lower strap relative to the second lower strap. The connection region defines a connection width, and the thigh region defines a thigh width larger than the connection width.

  • Patent number: 6461353
Abstract: An orthopedic apparatus, for effecting a change in ligaments, joint capsules and connective tissue through the controlled contraction of collagen fibers, includes a trocar. The trocar has a trocar elongated body with a trocar longitudinal axis, a trocar distal end that is laterally deflectable relative to the trocar longitudinal axis, and a trocar proximal end. An electrode is positioned at the trocar distal end. The electrode delivers substantially uniform energy across an energy delivery surface of the electrode. The energy delivery surface is positioned next to an area of collagen fibers to cause a controlled amount of contraction of the collagen fibers while minimizing dissociation and breakdown of the collagen fibers. A handle is positioned at the proximal end of the trocar. The handle includes an actuating member and a locking member.

  • Patent number: 6241702
Abstract: A medical device for the treatment by radio frequency ablation of a target volume in tissue of a prostate comprising an elongate probe member having proximal and distal extremities and having a passage therein extending from the proximal extremity to the distal extremity. The elongate probe member is sized so that it can be introduced into the urethra. At least one guide tube having proximal and distal extremities is mounted in the passage of the elongate probe member for nonlongitudinal movement therein. The at least one guide tube has a lumen extending therethrough from the proximal extremity to the distal extremity. A radio frequency conductive electrode is disposed in the lumen. A handle is coupled to the proximal extremity of the elongate probe member and includes a finger actuatable mechanism secured to the radio frequency electrode for advancing and retracting the radio frequency electrode with respect to the at least one guide tube.

  • Patent number: 5807309
Abstract: A transurethral needle ablation device for use with the human hand for radio frequency ablation of a target volume in the tissue of a prostate of a human male having a bladder with a base and a penis with a urethra therein formed by a urethral wall extending into the base of the bladder along a longitudinal axis with the tissue of the prostate surrounding the urethra near the base of the bladder. The device comprises a bridge having proximal and distal extremities and having a passage therein extending from the proximal extremity to the distal extremity. A sheath having proximal and distal extremities is secured to the bridge and has a passageway therein in communication with the passage in the bridge. The sheath is sized so that it can enter the urethra and has a length so that when its distal extremity is in the vicinity of the prostate, the proximal extremity is outside the urethra.

  • Patent number: 5762626
Abstract: A transurethral needle ablation device for the treatment of the prostate of a human male using radio frequency energy wall comprising a sheath having a lumen extending therethrough. A guide tube assembly is slidably mounted in the lumen in the sheath and having a lumen extending therethrough. A needle electrode is slidably mounted in the lumen in the guide tube assembly. An insulating sheath is disposed about the needle electrode so that the distal extremity of the needle electrode is exposed. A handle adapted to be gripped by the human hand is mounted on the proximal extremity of the sheath. Levers are carried by the handle for causing bending of the distal extremity of the guide tube assembly at an angle with respect to its longitudinal axis whereby the lumen in the guide tube assembly can be directed so that it faces the urethral wall.
