Publication number: 20050288974Abstract: An integrated travel service broker for facilitating transactions between travel inventory suppliers and buyers is disclosed. The system comprises a network with hub sites that provide a centralized connection for travel office point of service terminals and travel vendor databases and inventories. A user may purchase travel inventory by browsing a travel service broker database and a travel history database for travel itineraries, then selecting one of the travel itineraries and placing an order for travel services. The user also browses opaque bids placed in response to the order and selects one of the bids for purchase.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2005Publication date: December 29, 2005Applicant: AMERICAN EXPRESS TRAVEL RELATED SERVICES COMPANY, INC.Inventors: James Baranowski, Michael Laughlin, Mark McCulloch, Andrew Winterton

Patent number: 4419619Abstract: A voltage regulating transformer utilizing a microprocessor and a versatile multipurpose set of hardware modules and software modules it is described. A standard tap changing mechanism is driven in response to an analog control signal to change the output voltage of the transformer in response to digitally sampled values of voltage and current which have been transformed from the time domain to the frequency domain through a software program using Fourier transform techniques. The output current is also transformed and digitally processed to determine the power factor and the direction of power flow through the transformer. By inserting the digital values of the line characteristics to the load, line drop compensation is provided for. The difference in voltage across the input and output transformers is transformed to a digital signal and internally processed to provide an indication of the position of the tap changing mechanism without relying upon mechanical devices.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1981Date of Patent: December 6, 1983Assignee: McGraw-Edison CompanyInventors: James A.
