  • Publication number: 20210261794
Abstract: A reinforcing fabric configured for intumescent material expansion includes a woven fabric. The woven fabric has a plurality of composite yarns. Each composite yarn includes a fire resistant component and a crimping component. The crimping component is bonded to the fire resistant component, where the fire resistant component is in a crimped state and the crimping component is in a relaxed state when bonded. The woven fabric is woven with the plurality of the composite yarns with the fire resistant component maintained in the crimped state and the crimping component maintained in the relaxed state in each of the composite yarns. When the woven fabric is imbedded in an intumescent material, the woven fabric is configured to reinforce the intumescent material during heat expansion, and mechanical loads from the expanding intumescent material, in a controlled and predictable manner.

  • Publication number: 20210231829
Abstract: A method includes receiving a drilling parameter, a tool characterization parameter, and a formation model. The method includes generating a forward model of a tool response at a bed boundary using the one drilling parameter, the tool characterization parameter, and the formation model. The method includes predicting at least two azimuthal gamma logs using the forward model. The method includes determining that a difference between the at least two azimuthal gamma logs generates a confidence level that is greater than a confidence threshold. In response to determining that the difference between the at least two azimuthal gamma logs generates the confidence level that is greater than the confidence threshold, the method includes generating a well plan. The method includes outputting a command for controlling a trajectory in directionally drilling a wellbore within a formation associated with the formation model using the well plan.

  • Publication number: 20210048555
Abstract: The present disclosure describes gain stabilization techniques for scintillation devices which do not require use of an intrinsic reference radiation source. Reference light pulses are emitted into the scintillation device to obtain a signal having a given magnitude. The magnitude of the signal is compared to the magnitude of a reference signal computed as a function of temperature and a degradation factor. A gain adjustment is computed with causes the magnitude of the signal to match the target reference magnitude. The gain adjustment is then used to adjust the system gain so that subsequent output signal amplitudes, measured when energetic photons interact in the scintillator, always correspond to the same energy.

  • Publication number: 20200127474
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer media for battery system management and non-linear estimation of battery state of charge are provided herein. Battery data is received for a time period over which a battery system has operated. The battery data represents the actual performance of the battery system over the time period. Sub-periods of charging or discharging can be identified in the time period. For the sub-periods of time, a curve can be fit to the battery data. Using the curves for the battery data for the sub-periods of time, an expected performance of the battery system, over a range of states-of-charge, can be determined. Operating instructions for the battery system can be provided based on the expected performance.

  • Patent number: 10612952
Abstract: An Automatic Pulse Tracer Velocimeter (APTV) including arc-type APTVs and cross-type APTVs along with a field station and a master station capable of wireless communication with a remote computing devices. The APTV measures flow velocity in a flowable medium by injecting a small amount of a conductive tracer solution into a water column. Following injection, a plurality of wire detector pairs positioned downstream of the injection point are programmed to continuously make conductivity measurements at pre-determined time intervals. A tracer curve of the conductivity measurements over time is created and used to obtain velocity measurements.

  • Patent number: 10379969
Abstract: The disclosure generally describes methods, software, and systems, including a method for using and managing ephemeral tables. User inputs associated with a database management system are received from an application. The user inputs are associated with a particular user and a particular application. From an auto-save cache index, one or more ephemeral tables are identified that are associated with the user inputs. The ephemeral tables are mapped to one or more tables in the database management system. Using the user inputs and the auto-save cache index, the one or more ephemeral tables are updated. Information associated with the user inputs is automatically stored on a temporal basis. The information survives database sessions, transaction boundaries, and database management system restarts.

  • Patent number: 9702094
Abstract: A method of forming tunnels(6), and tunnels formed thereby, said tunnels in one embodiment being of a form to carry transport routes (1) such as rail and road transport therealong. The method allows the tunnel to be formed from one or more access points (2) by allowing the tunnel structure (6) to be progressively extended out from the tunnel by advancing deck structures (24) along guide means (20) which are formed as part of a base structure (18). The deck structures (24) can also be used to support excavation equipment (28) and/or act as transport routes for access to the leading edge of the tunnel as it is formed. This greatly reduces the need for separate access and works to be provided adjacent to the tunnel as it is formed and therefore reduces the level of reinstatement works required after the tunnel has been formed.
